But truthfully, Sony is nearly impossible to beat, and even if the devs got justice for themselves, that wouldn't save D2 or Bungie in the long run. D2 may be everything to us but it costs nothing to Sony – they'd just shutter the game once the initial uproar has passed and people are back to complaining, unless there was some miraculous turnaround by both management and the community.

I've been playing Renegades to get my fix after watching The Mandalorian & Grogu, and D2 is more dead than it has ever been. The Tower is empty, match-making takes forever, Fireteam Finder [LFG] is quiet and my friend & clan lists are greyed out bc everyone is offline. And I get it. Final Shape felt 'final' to a lot of people, EoF was a rocky start to the new story, Renegades is a jarring contrast to the rest of D2, and now the end of live updates was just announced; so why stick around?

But if we want to breathe life back into D2 and/or make Destiny 3 happen, we have to show up NOW. And we can't take our frustrations out on Marathon bc ending Marathon means the end of Bungie. We can't just show up for one (1) day and expect things to change. And we can't just show up a few days for the update then go back to the usual complaining. We have to do better- we have to be a community again.

We have to face the dark together.

I don't know if the open letters / comments of support will do anything. I don't know if making forum posts or sending emails will do anything. I don't know if making 1-star reviews on review sites will do anything, or if all these actions will just hurt Bungie employees even more. But I do know that the Tower is empty when it shouldn't be. So fill the Tower.
