I appreciate that analysis!! You are absolutely right. skills evolve in strange ways. that was sort of a goal from the last couple years. noticed I was putting way too much time into making things “detailed” which translated to me drawing a bunch of unnecessary lines. It’s always been a bad habit in my art and I set out to correct it. 

This is a totally fair assessment, I feel the same often after looking back at older pieces sometimes. I feel like a large part of this is due to a large majority of the pieces that I post are commissions. I had to find a healthy balance between quality and time spent. I've experimented with styles and techniques to produce art as fast as possible while maintaining a certain threshold of quality, at least in my eyes. I think this is a large part of being a professional artist. At the end of the day, I know I’m cutting a LOT of corners, but If I can hit the 70-80 percent mark in a reasonable amount of time, I am happy. I feel like this is reflected well in my prices.  At one point in my life, about 3 or so years ago, I was doing ‘traditional’ art full time which meant that I had more hours/energy to focus on pieces. It also meant that I had more freedom to take time out to study as well. That focus has shifted learning a WHOOOOLE other field of art, which is now my dayjob. I work fulltime as a graphic designer/animator/art director (whatever redundant titles). I feel like I have learned SO much in the last 4 years in terms of design, but my traditional pieces have suffered because of it. I think about this alot. It sort of bums me out at times, but It’s hard to be upset with myself knowing that I have basically tripled my skillset in under 5 years.
