Carefree Summer: Lingerie-Inspired Slip Dress & Flannel
A slip dress is traditionally worn under a dress to add comfort and to improve appearances. Wearing them alone is reserved for bedroom or private occasions. However, due to their undeniable sexy appeal, designers love to reinvent and bring them into fashion periodically. The lingerie-inspired trend has been coming back on to the runway and red carpet for quite a while now, but it still sounds intimidating to step out all over town wearing bedroom attire. One person did it, though, and did it in an absolutely stunning way -- Victoria Beckham, who wore a sexy lingerie-inspired slip dress to a sports outing! Surrounded by women who dressed up in colorful daywear, the delicate black lace trim around her bust is even more outstanding and attractive!
Failing to resist the allure, I bought this Zara lingerie-inspired slip dress in winter, but had to wait till the weather got warmer to actually wear it! One thing I love about this dress is that, compared with silk (traditional slip dresses are mostly made of silk fabrics), its material is thicker, which made it easier to wear outdoors. Additionally, it also holds all elements of a slip – spaghetti straps and romantic lace trims. To make the dress more “street legal”, I tied a flannel around my waist for a sporty touch. The lace-up booties and panama hat helped to complete this casual and cool slip-grunge look.
