I've started feeling apprehensive about these takes that TVL has ruined Armand's "reputation" or made him irredeemable in audience's eyes. I don't think there's actually much textual support by the end for Armand to be seen as soley a monstrous psychopath. If there was, there wouldn't be plenty of analysis arguing the opposite.

I think it's dangerous to believe a writer or showrunner have a responsibility to make the audience understand or believe specific things. Art and stories aren't supposed to have baked in morals, you are meant to bring your own morals and your curiousity. If the responsibility of the audience's interpretation falls on the artist, the end result will be flat, tell-don't-show style storytelling with hamfisted themes and messages shoved in your face repeatedly because they can't bear to trust the audience even a little. And we are actually already seeing that happen! Plenty of recent shows, books, and movies have had their subtly excised because the creator feared someone might not Get It and they would be flamed online.

What I'm saying is, let artists experiment and fail. Ignore the haters and fandom "reputation". Block liberally. If someone doesn't empathize with Armand, it's genuinely a skill issue.
