No Day But This
There is no day but this, no song other than the wind that blows dry the dew on the grass beneath my feet. As much as I know autumn comes, I cannot argue with time if there is no day but this and I sing with the wind and dance lightly on its song.

Stones

Coming Up for Air
A fist-sized stone
deep in the Earth
is on the edge of becoming magma.
It has been underground
for billions of years,
in darkness since before life awoke.
It will rise,
touch sunlight,
taste rain and cool,
erode into soil,
become new, green grass,
nourish a mother deer,
be born into a wildflower meadow.
The stone will take its first breath.

Yes
by William Stafford
It could happen any time, tornado, earthquake, Armageddon. It could happen. Or sunshine, love, salvation.
It could, you know. That’s why we wake and look out -- no guarantees in this life.
But some bonuses, like morning, like right now, like noon, like evening.
