There’s something about her. I haven't quite placed it. But it’s something so deeply alluring I cannot, could not possibly turn away. Perhaps it's the way her hair can’t decide whether to curl or straighten. Maybe it's the way her eyes crinkle in a smile. Or perhaps it is just the idea of her that hooks me on her addiction.

Subtlety is not something I hold and I’m ever certain that she has noticed by now. My glances catch her every time, her eyes meeting mine as her smile falls. I try to avoid it. I try to avoid her. But nothing seems to stick. Like a moth to a flame or a sailor to a siren, I cannot bring myself to truly cut her off. Believe me, I’ve tried. Her number, deleted, our paths, avoided, and yet the thoughts remain. The feelings remain. I believe she’ll bring me to my brink. Everything about her I memorize. Every detail of her voice and every sigh of her composure has been torn apart and analyzed. Every move she’s made and every word she’s uttered, tucked away into the dark corners of my mind to which I wish they did not exist. And yet they persist.
