Dex is a nervous guy he just wants to be perfect. Perfect grades, perfect hockey, etc. so when he joins the metros he feels like he has something to prove. He stays late watching tape after practice most days and then catches some extra time on the ice which is how he misses the fact that Shane does the opposite: ice then tape. Both them meticulously committed to a schedule. Will after a bad streak of practices ends his tape session early because he can’t concentrate and catches Shane on the ice and all he can think about is dang he missed Nursey. Because here he is living a dream he never even let himself have and he can’t even enjoy it because he’s not clicking with him d partner and he doesn’t realize he’s kinda zoning and staring until Shane wave a hand in his face. And they end up having an honest convo about how will feels like he just played better hockey with one of his teammates and Shane wants to say he gets but he’s feels like he’ll say too much and not enough so he just listens to him and at the end mentions how he needs to bake to let out some energy and Shane’s like ??? And that’s how Shane meets Bitty and oh my god is that Bad bobs son.

“Do you have any ideas how many times I have gotten this exact phone call? He’s easier to catch if you bait him with mozzarella sticks but make sure he knows he only gets them if he comes quietly. If you let him negotiate he will take the sticks and run. Cliff always fell for that.”
