Update on my weight loss Journey! So I've lost almost 70lbs I am not currently 129 lbs. Here's what I've gained and lost from this journey: I've gained self confidence (when I'm dressed), better eating habits, less back and knee pain, a lot of loose skin, a fatty mass on my liver from losing weight too fast. What I've lost: a LOT of my hair. Apparently being on a glp-1 and just losing weight in general makes your hair fall out, weight (obviously), confidence being naked (because of all the saggy skin), my binge eating, my butt that I barely had in the first place, my energy (glp-1s cause a lot of fatigue), my boobs, muscle mass (my fault for not working out while taking it) and some others that I can't think of right now. Maybe its the semaglutide causing brain fog.
Overall was it worth it? Well I did it for my health. I was over weight I wanted to be healthier for my kids. I have a binge eating disorder which was hard to just stop, and I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia so working out was hard to begin with, I have degenerative disc disease so doing anything that causes the discs in my back the compress is not good, I also have PCOS which makes it very hard to lose weight in general. But it caused a fatty mass on my liver which is potentially non alcoholic fatty liver disease which I probably would have gotten either way because I was at risk of it according to 23 and me.
I was expecting saggy skin around my belly because I had two kids. But I was NOT expecting it literally everywhere else. It's on my arms, my legs, my butt, my neck, and my belly. (I'll post pictures of the skin sag in another post). I guess I didn't realize how big I was when I was bigger I went from a 2xl to a medium in just a year. But being 5'2 and almost 230lbs I guess I should have known there would be loose skin everywhere!
My hair is EVERYWHERE it never fell out in clumps but I lost more than the normal daily amount (normally you lose about 100 hairs a day). Thankfully I already had very thick hair so it's not noticeable to others but I definitely notice it when I'm washing my hair or styling it. It definitely takes less time to straighten it.
Yes I think it was worth it. For my health, for my confidence, for my relationship with food, and for my kids. The negatives that came with it are what comes with losing weight in general. Yes if I had the time and energy to work out the loose skin would not be as bad but honestly the loose skin just shows that I once was big and now I'm not.
