I was thinking about how loaded this statement is from Eddie and it was really putting me in my feelings. I mean, for that one minor interaction to mean THAT much to him? After all that time? That’s how you know he’s had it bad for that girl. Even if his crush was this intense thing for her only in middle school, and maybe it just became this sweet, nostalgic thing he remembered? You can’t tell me that he wasn’t still obsessed with her in some small way. So to put himself out there when he sees her again, especially as a way to comfort Chrissy and put her at ease in a moment when she’s clearly troubled, seems so important to a personality like Eddie.

It’s Eddie being vulnerable for Chrissy’s sake and it’s so pure and good.

She disappeared the day after prom, the day after she kissed him in a yellow cocktail dress, the day after all her options changed after a joint, a pepperoni pizza and a night in his arms… and not because of an alter-dimensional beast but because of monster made of flesh and bone that she calls ‘mother’. “You ruined her! I could perceive that devilish smell of you and your hellhole on her,” Laura fucking Cunningham spat when Eddie asked where Chrissy was. “Far away from Hawkins. That’s what she needs!” Oh, he tried -tried to talk to her father (a hollow man) or her brother (Eddie felt so sorry for him), but… no name, no place. Nothing. But he tried so hard. Because it was Chrissy, that little 6th grade girl that had smiled at him with genuine care and told him “good luck” with all her heart… Jesus H. Christ! he loved her since that second. And he had to say it to her no matter what. So he searched for her, leaving Hawkins and Indiana without looking back. But even the most determined mind pales facing reality. An absence. Hers. And the absence of leads and hope. After 3 years, somewhere in the middle of Illinois, Eddie gave up. He parked his van on the roadside, hands tightened on the steering wheel, still, a terrible pop song on the radio, and shed tears of mourning he had refused to shed for years…

Something that’s been floating around in my head forever and I needed to get it out. Not sure if it will ever be expanded, but I sort of love this premise.

Stumbling through the hotel suite (added fees, Mr. Munson. We know how rock bands get.) Eddie nearly tripped over a few passed out bodies on the floor. His eyes were stinging a little from the smoke in the room, the floor feeling uneven under his feet and ears pulsing with the rush of too fast blood and humming with the sounds of voices that weren’t really talking, but he eventually made it to the bathroom. He shut and locked the door with trembling fingers, but that didn’t drown out the heavy bass from the stereo. It was nearing five in the morning, but the party was still raging despite the numerous noise complaints from other guests.

It was always raging.

I think a lot about how Max and Chrissy's relationship could have been but I realize that I don't think nearly enough how Erica and Chrissy could have been. I mean, Erica would take one look at Chrissy and go "First of all, dump that dipshit you've calling boyfriend because that's a dead end if I ever saw one! Second of all, let's go to your house, I'm going to have words with your mother." Then she'd turn to Eddie and tell him to have the trailer clean/more organized by the time they get back "because this" she makes a gesture around "is no way to treat a woman. So you better step up your game, lover boy!"
