"PRETTY PRETTY PLEASE I DON'T WANT TO BE A MAGICAL GIRL" EPISODE 2 đ
"I Want to be a Normal Girl"
SATURDAY, JANUARY 31ST @ 11AM PST!!!!!!!!!!!!
New episode animatic dropping! Planning on doing a stream right before to watch the pilot/episode 1 together and do a small QnA~ There will also be a lil announcement after the credits đ
WE'RE SO BACK!!!
Make sure to subscribe so you know when the premiere goes live!
SO READY FOR RHIS TO BE BACK!! I need a full series. Come on now, Disney!
Silly doodles
So, this has been brewing for a while, but I can finally say that...
Lackadaisy is now a GLITCH Production!
For details, catch the official GLITCH Direct announcement video here!
In summary, this means Lackadaisy has more budget and vastly more production support than before; and that Season One will be bigger and better than we thought possible! And coinciding with the news, we've released a little animated sneak peak of Season One, featuring original music "Last Call"
See the full video with music here!
-------------- We've also put a little FAQ here to address questions folks might have about what's changing and what's not. Lastly, thanks for watching, and for bearing with us, and thank you for the support. It has made all the difference in making this possible!
Tentatively excited. Though, in the same announcement I heard that âGlitch Presentsâ productions might not air on YouTube??
So uh. Hope that goes well. All things considered Iâm happy the Lackadaisy team has more money and potentially time to get their production done.
And I already backed the backer kit ages ago so I got my comics and (Iâm assuming) access to the episodes. (Been a minute since I checked in.
As another side note they pushed Knights of Guinevere merch and asked people to âcontribute to the green light of season 1â but unlike a kickstarter or anything else hard numbers for what sales are needed is also lacking.
Again, I bought a sweater so⌠Iâm doing ny part.
Itâs an interesting time for indie animation. With a lot of people pitching their own animated pilots and whatnot. YouTube is getting pummeled by AI SLOP and at the same time a veritable flood of people saying: âscrew it! Hereâs what Iâve wanted to and for years!â So it kind of feels like that scene in The Road To El Dorado:
I guess weâll see how the normies react. Do you want genuine heartfelt artistry? Or cynical disgusting silicon-valley slop!?
I have faith that people will choose the correct one. But not a lot of faith. Really hoping this whole project worked out. But at the same time, I know Glitch likely doesnât have infinite money dollars. Not gonna expect them to single-handedly save the world of animation and you shouldnât either imo.

The face of âI fumbled so hard.â
you have entered.. the scary door
Okay so one thing I love about Knights of Guinevere is the lack of cynicism about Guinevere herself. Despite the fact that she's an android and not human, despite the fact that she seems stuck in a pre-programmed fantasy world, despite the fact that she is the face of a marketing empire, Guinevere herself is not evil.
She's everything we were told as kids that princesses are meant to be. Friendly, graceful, wanting to be there for and protect children. She is a princess in need of rescue who tries over and over again to rescue herself while waiting for her knights. She is just as abused under the corrupt system in place, if not more so. Yet she still fights to protect the people who are trying to save her when she is broken. The surveillance system used by the corporation over it's citizens is something she uses to fondly remember the children she befriends.
I just love that despite how scathingly and rightfully this show criticizes Disney as a company, it never points the finger at the audience for loving princesses and wanting to indulge in fantasy, and the creativity that brought these fantasies to life were done so out of genuine love.
And anyways, that's why I'm crying over an animatronic park princess from cyberpunk horror cartoon on a Saturday morning, have a good weekend everyone.

I'm going for the trash panda pokemon in gen 10 of pokemon!
When my uncle finally divorced his abusive wife and became a bachelor again he was like 55 and already used to wearing dad attire. Anyway so that year at the big family camping trip my aunts were trying so hard to hook him up with their friends but he kept wearing this sweater with a kitten in s hammock that said âbeach bumâ on it. And every time they saw it theyâd say âWear a nicer sweatshirt Stan!â And he would just earnestly reply âThis IS a very nice sweater!â
Anyway my aunts were full of shit that sweater kicked ass
Found the picture that was on the sweater
You're right that sweater kicked ass
Half Correct. The description is right, but the picture isnât. When I made the post five (six?) years ago, this was the only picture I could find. Its style was close enough that I figured maybe I was remembering incorrectly. HOWEVER it is my great pleasure to inform you that after many years I have found the ACTUAL kitten depicted on the sweater. Enjoy.
Steven Universe got blatantly and unapologetically cancelled by the network because the creators pushed for a lesbian wedding, and instead of going, "oh, fuck, that's incredibly homophobic, we should give Cartoon Network hell for that for the rest of forever, holy shit," everyone collectively decided to blame the crew for "rushing the ending" as if it wasn't completely out of their hands. Fuck's sake.
"Ren why do you even care so much?"
Because I study queer media history as a hobby, am working on an intense project on media censorship, and the way Steven Universe was treated is a fucking textbook example of queer content getting shut down by the powers-that-be.
It was literally censored in reaction to its inclusion of queer content. This isn't a secret and it never has been. Rebecca Sugar has been completely open about how hard they had to fight against homophobia at Cartoon Network. Steven Universe is a case study of anti-queer censorship from a mindset of "think of the children."
Steven Universe is a historically significant piece of queer media, and watching in real-time as it went from "progressive queer show" to "the subject of the most rancid bad-faith discourse I have ever seen" is genuinely alarming to me as a queer media hobby-historian.
[ID: A screenshot of a comment from tumblr user mechfried, saying, "Wait, that isn't working out here, they wouldn't cancel the show for having a gay wedding, but than [sic] give the same creator a movie and a second show to continue that story." End ID.]
"Cancellation" doesn't just mean "immediately ended." Cancellations can include shortenings.
These photos are from the "End of an Era" artbook.
Transcript:
Rebecca Sugar: After the publication of The Answer in 2016, I was pulled into a meeting and asked to explain myself. I had been told to play down this relationship, and now it existed as a book. In every meeting like this, I would defend our stories and our audience of queer youth--they deserve cartoons and picture books, too. I would leave these meetings feeling rattled. I drew this self-portrait the night of The Answer book meeting. [Portrait not included in this photo.]
Transcription:
We decided it would be an inexorable part of the story. And then the back-and-forth started, and no one wanted to say the real concerns, so instead it was, "Will this appeal to our demographic of six-to-eleven-year-old boys?" But Ben 10 had an alien wedding, Powerpuff Girls had a wedding--there was no question that the Cartoon Network audience would definitely watch a wedding. Arguments were made that it was "out of character" for Steven to want a wedding, but we'd covered our bases there with the episode "Open Book" [S1E51], which had already aired ages ago. It's old news that Steven loves weddings. I wouldn't bend on the story, and every time there was a concern about it not being entertaining enough, I would add more: A big musical number! A huge fight! A half-hour special! This thing will be so entertaining it'll blow kids' hair back!
"But if Steven Universe gets a gay wedding, then every show is going to want a gay wedding!" "YES!" I said. "GOOD! WHY NOT???"
Eventually the decision came down from on high: We could have the wedding. I knew that was an extremely difficult call to make, and that we were going to be censored heavily and pulled in many countries because of it. And we didn't know at that time if this would mean the end of the show. It looked as if the writing was on the wall, and we were working toward the end.
I had been told this would be the final pickup for us, and I campaigned for an additional six episodes on the end of the season in order to wrap up the story--this became the Era 3 arc.
Navigating a cosmos of relationships was a lot for a young person like Steven as he attempted to find the good in everyone and hook that connection that would allow positive change to blossom in the minds of others. His powers were going to be put into the test in so many more ways as the series moved through this slate of episodes, building steam toward an interplanetary conflict.
End transcript.
I will never understand people who donât care about context. Rebecca Sugar fought as hard as she could for what we got, and there was a hell of a price to be paid for it, and people shriek about how the show is horrible because it doesnât do enough. The same people accuse the writers of Legend of Korra of cynical, intentional queerbaiting because it didnât do enough. Theyâre whinging about how She-Ra didnât do enough. Are they already bitching about how The Owl House sucks because IT doesnât do enough?
And not fucking once have these people stopped to think that Korrasami being confirmed with handholding and a loving gaze was literally as far as things could be pushed at the time, or that Ruby and Sapphireâs wedding could not have happened without that. She-Ra and The Owl House couldnât go where they did without Legend of Korra and Steven Universe going where they did first.
You know what thatâs called, where things get better one step at a time? Progress.

Beep boop! I look for accidental haiku posts. Sometimes I mess up.
Since Iâm very close to this finale Iâm fascinated by this discussion. Sad too, because the easy chapter-by-chapter inch-by-inch world building is part of what has made SU such a perfect watch up to this point. I already know a lot of what the âEra 3â arc has in store but Iâm hoping I can enjoy it regardless.
OH BTW
Since I've seen a few people ask, YES!!! I voice Zooble in TADC! I love this silly(grumpy) lil critter so much and it was a ton of fun to voice them!

You're awesome keep nerding.
You too, or so I assume.
What are you wanting to major in in college, or are you undecided?
Illustration with an emphasis in 2D. (yeah, I know itâs been forever. Thatâs how long it took to decide.) Thanks for asking!
