Golconda hasn't ever really been handled well In 1st edition it was a state that could be achieved in game and basically put you on a super high power level where you could ignore a lot of aspects of the curse, so long as you were on your best behavior. It was relatively easy to achieve and fairly well known 2nd edition onward have basically paid lip service to the idea. Usually there'd be a thing in the back of the book that said "okay if you want to use Golconda, it basically needs to be the subject of an entire Chronicle where you and your coterie try to make up for all the bad shit you've done as vampires and resist doing new bad shit." And I have never met anyone that's actually played a "Golconda Chronicle" because it sounds boring as shit Revised was the same. V20 was the same. Sometimes there'd be suggestions of what Golconda might do mechanically like "maybe you have infinite blood pool without needing to feed" or "maybe you're immune to sunlight" and even "maybe you just stop being a vampire and come back to life." So V5 actually was nothing new in that regard And V6 having Golconda be an unplayable state which occurs when you abandon your Beast completely and detach yourself from the vampire world, basically the equivalent of being a Wight but for Vampires that swing too hard to the Mortal side of the spectrum, it actually makes sense to me. Because Golconda hasn't really been intended to be playable in 33 years, it's always been meant to be a tantalizing possibility that raises narrative discussions for characters that try to hold onto their humanity, rather than a game-state in and of itself.
