Still my least favorite of The Last Jedi: Leia’s abandonment of hope in her son. This is the only part of the movie I cannot understand from Rian’s perspective. I can’t get behind it. I do hope JJ fixes this aspect somehow because I think it’s a huge mistake.

I get it, about people being tired of hoping. My point is the portrayal of the relationship (or lack of) between Leia and Ben just left a bitter taste in my mouth. Once again, it was just Leia talking about hope while watching the men go out to face her son while she waits behind. Something about that just didn’t feel right to me. I just wanted Leia’s relationship with her son to be an important part of her story. Now it’ll never be😢

Keep in mind Kylo did kill Han. Even if they separated that’s a really heavy blow on that relationship. Do you keep loving your son even after you hear he killed the one who had your heart?

Yes you love your child. Yes. That’s the issue. The mother giving up on the child so the heroine can be more of a hero is an issue to me. It wasn’t necessary to have Leia give up on her son and seems regressive in character to me.
