Unironically what is the issue with allowing free-roaming cats if you don’t live in areas with coyotes or hogs? I’ve never really heard about it being bad, so why is it?

Jfc people, please stop treating cats with less care and respect you’d treat a dog. Stop treating them like they’re disposable pets. Stop acting like you know more than veterinarians and years upon years of data. If you can’t be a responsible cat owner, then you shouldn’t have a cat.

Cat harnesses and leashes are also a thing, so if you want your cat to have outdoor exposure, invest in one. And yes, if they’ve never been on a leash before, they’re going to probably hate it and fight you, but so would a dog until they’re leash trained. And if you’re the kind of person who thinks a dog needs to be on a leash or otherwise prevented from wandering/getting out of a controlled area when outdoors but a cat doesn’t, then you shouldn’t have a cat, period.

“Do you want to talk about it or be distracted from it” is honestly the best thing you can say to me when I say im sad/in pain etc.

You know what I don’t get?  When fanfic authors apologize for long chapters.  It’s like?  You gave me bonus content, for free, and you’re sorry about it?  Bruh.  I have already named my firstborn after you.  Dude.

You know what else I don’t get?  When they apologize for short updates.  It’s like: look at these new words I gave you!  Sorry I didn’t give you even more free words.  Bro, that’s at least two words that I did not have yesterday.  For free.  Dude.  Thank you.

And another thing: when people drop out of nowhere with a surprise update and then apologize for it taking a while.  Like, dude, I wasn’t expecting anything, and you gave me words.  I thought this fic was abandoned, but wait: there’s more.  You just popped in and reminded me that this is a Good Fic that I should probably reread.  You made my goshdarn day.

Basically fanfic writers are under no obligation to publish anything so when they do update it’s always a net positive because the story is longer now, and I have something to read, so thank you so much to everyone who writes fic at whatever pace or quantity they want.

1 year old birthday parties are basically just “congrats on keeping your kid alive for a year” parties for the parents.

I'm going to point out that in many societies (including some today, though to a lesser extent), people wouldn't name their kids for quite awhile after birth. Parents wouldn't really get attached to their kids until they were about 2, because the mortality rate of infants was so high. While considerably lower now, I would definitely say that throwing parents a "hooray, your offspring didn't die from SIDS or something" party, wouldn't be a bad thing.

no one wants to hear it but love is earned after the initial infatuation. commitment is something u both mutually agree to and then from there it’s work. it’s not work like it’s a chore it’s jus work like it takes effort. to get good at these things takes practice. it takes practice to learn to communicate better and it takes practice to learn to love each other in the ways u need to be loved.
