“Pads, Moony? Can Ron and I do our Diagon shopping with Bill this year?” Harry asked casually, peeking his head into the sitting room. The soot on his face, something he still managed to do at the age of thirteen, told Remus that the boy was obviously using the kitchen Floo to make a fire call with his best friend.
Remus exchanged a look with his husband, who seemed confused and a bit put-out. “Sure, Haz. Just be safe and check in if you’re staying over,” Remus said calmly, placing a steadying hand on Sirius’s knee.
Harry’s pleading eyes lit up. “Thanks, Moony!” He quickly left the room.
Remus turned to Sirius, who still seemed caught off-guard. “You okay, baby?” he whispered, giving him a smile.
The shorter man gave him a sad, thoughtful look. “Are we…not cool anymore, Moons?” he asked, frowning. “He’s going shopping with Bill? What’s he got that we don’t?”
“An earring,” Remus said, laughing and pressing a kiss to his husband’s forehead. “A badass job. Youth.”
“I’m not ancient,” Sirius retorted, pouting. “And I could have an earring!”
“Sure you could, love,” Remus chuckled. “But just think! Harry being gone shopping means we’ll have the whole house to ourselves. Have any ideas of what we could do with that time?” He waggled his eyebrows suggestively.
Now it was Sirius who visibly lit up. “Fuck coolness,” he muttered, smirking. “Bill can babysit.”
“That’s the spirit,” Remus laughed, pulling him into a kiss.
