OCD things that you don't hear about:
episodes of paranoia, delusions, and dissociation
cyclical thoughts/spirals
magical thinking
episodes that can be very similar to psychosis or mania
attributing human emotions to inanimate objects
dermatillomania and trichotillomania
false sensations (like bugs crawling on skin)
paying way too much attention to very small things
physical health issues caused by compulsions
symptoms that are "problematic" (doing things that are considered "wasteful", needing reassurance or validation from others...)
extreme, deep, dreadful fear of things that can't truly be explained
disconnect between emotional and cognitive/logical responses or thoughts
contamination fears
problems with addiction and dopamine regulation
other people trying to force exposure therapy onto you without your consent and it making your anxiety way worse
list making
i feel so defensive and protective of people with ARFID like if i had a disorder that made my brain register 90% of food as poison for no reason and i had a bazillion people on the internet constantly calling me a manchild who needs to just grow up and stop being a picky eater i would start killing people
i am supposed to have the energy… to do stuff...?
every? day??
Its child predator, not pedophile.
It's beastiality, not zoophilia.
Its corpse desecration, not necrophile.
"You're being pedantic!" People tell me, even those within mental health movements themselves.
So is it pedantic when people point out that narcissistic is not the same as "egotistical/self-absorbed/emotionally abusive"?
Is it pedantic when people point out that psycho, psychopath, and sociopath aren't the same thing as "criminal/abuser"?
Is it pedantic when people point out that schizophrenic, psychosis, and delusional aren't the same as "quirky/lying to oneself"?
Is it pedantic when people point out that ADHD and autism are not the same as "being quirky"?
Is it pedantic when people point out that low/no empathy/sympathy is not the same thing as "being cruel"?
Is it pedantic? Or are you just unwilling to admit that paraphilic disorders are stigmatized, and that thousands of non-offending paraphiles get demonized by your statements?
Is it pedantic? Or are you just unwilling to recognize that most predators do not have para disorders [link], and that even those who do are predatory because they're bad people, not because of their condition?
When will ya'll admit that you're unwilling to give up the concept of an "evil disorder"?

you know, i don't remember
The reading comprehension and overall common sense on this website is piss poor.
how dare you say we piss on the poor
the sheer amount of fandom, fanfic, and fictional character content in the d/Deaf and hard of hearing tags is staggering. You have to scroll for ages before you even start getting to the deaf cat, let alone actual d/Deaf and hard of hearing users and issues.
this isn't specific to d/Deaf or HoH spaces either, you can barely poke your head into any tag without hitting a wall of fiction. is it that hard to understand that if you believe the internet is a source of connection and sharing knowledge that it's bad to deliberately obstruct that?
Have some basic decency and keep fictional characters in their own tags. It's hard enough for disabled people to have any opportunity to talk about disability or connect with each other without the streams of information constantly contaminated with your favourite blorbos. Let us communicate and share things, for fuck's sakes, without finding ways to make it about fiction. Without finding ways to make it about what you like instead of what others in that space like and need. Sometimes disabled people... actually exist. And are more important than fiction.
high school friendships are like i see you every day. we don't spend enough time together. we've changed clothes in the same stall. i'm the only person who can read your handwriting. you've held me until i stopped crying. you know how i brush my teeth. i don't know your favorite color. you forgot my birthday. we'll probably never see each other again. we're going to the same college. save a seat for me. i promise people will miss you if you die. i'm sure our grades will be good. i don't know what i'll do once i'm out of here either. they couldn't pay me to talk to you again. i'm gonna miss you

being a middle schooler is so funny because they'll ask why you're in the principal's office for the third time this week and then you'll say you're being provoked because your peers hate you for no reason other than being a bit different and they won't leave you alone and you don't know what else to do besides hit, to which they will respond that this shouldn't be a problem because you're really good at math
Greetings bugs and worms!
This comic is a little different than what I usually do but I worked real hard on it—Maybe I'll make more infographic stuff in the future this ended up being fun. Hope you learned something new :)
If you are still curious and want to learn more about OCD, you can visit the International OCD Foundation's website. I also recommend this amazing TED ED video "Starving The Monster", which was my first introduction to the disorder and this video by John Green about his own experience with OCD.
The IOCDF's website can also help you find support groups, therapy, and has lots of online guides and resources as well if you or a loved one is struggling with the disorder. It is very comprehensive!
