Your Venus sign and planets and where you get spoiled by people, situations, or institutions that just want to indulge in you. Effects can shift based on other planets, like the malefics Mars or Saturn. (Note: retrograde Venus means the effects are delayed and/or repeats the same experience.)
Aries Venus: People spoil you by letting you win or giving you the lead without a fight. You get indulged when you are being bold or even a bit demanding. You are pampered by those who find your raw energy exciting and want to fuel your next big move.
1st House Venus: People are literally obsessed with indulging your personal whims. You get spoiled just by showing up to a location. Whether it is receiving free upgrades at a hotel or people constantly offering to do your errands, you are the focal point of their generosity. They want to see you happy because your mood dictates the energy of the entire room. In any social situation, you are the one who gets the best seat or the last slice of cake without even asking for it.
Taurus Venus: You are spoiled with high-quality physical things and extreme comfort. People want to feed you well, give you expensive gifts, and make sure your environment is perfect. You get indulged by the material world; money and resources seem to find their way to you just to keep you stable. Institutions treat you like a valued, long-term asset. You get the best version of everything because people believe you deserve to live a life of luxury.
2nd House Venus: You get spoiled by financial systems or "the system" through gifts, easy money, or high-quality objects falling into your lap. People want to buy you things or simply hand over their possessions to you. You often find that you have a surplus of resources because others want to make sure you stay physically comfortable. Whether it is a bank waiving a fee or a friend giving you an expensive gadget, your physical world is constantly being topped up by outside sources.
Gemini Venus: People spoil you by giving you information, useful tools, and constant mental stimulation. You find that teachers, writers, and siblings go out of their way to share their resources with you. You are pampered by anyone who wants to keep your quick mind engaged and happy.
3rd House Venus: You get spoiled by your immediate surroundings, like siblings, neighbors, or even random people on the street. Your daily commute or local errands are unusually smooth. People give you the "inside scoop," offer you rides, or handle your annoying paperwork for you. The local environment itself seems to bend to make your day easier. You are the person who always finds a parking spot or the one the shopkeeper lets in five minutes after closing just because they recognize your face.
Cancer Venus: You get spoiled by people who want to protect you and make you feel safe. You receive the best "home-cooked" treatment wherever you go. Family members and even strangers want to provide you with a soft place to land and emotional support. Institutions related to housing or caretaking favor you with kindness. You are pampered by those who see your vulnerability as a treasure and want to ensure you never have to face the world alone.
4th House Venus: You get spoiled by your family or through real estate and land. You might live in a place you did not have to pay for, or your relatives ensure you always have a beautiful, comfortable home. Institutions related to housing or heritage tend to favor you, giving you a very soft place to land. You are the "golden child" of the lineage, receiving the best furniture, the biggest room, or the most support whenever you need to retreat from the outside world.
Leo Venus: You get spoiled with attention, praise, and VIP treatment. People want to give you the center stage and the best of everything just to see you shine. You get indulged by those in power who treat you like royalty. Whether it is a free front-row seat or a public tribute, the world wants to celebrate you. You are pampered by institutions that recognize your "star power" and want to be associated with your bright, creative energy.
5th House Venus: This is the peak of being indulged for your creativity or your "fun" side. People want to pay for your dinner, your concert tickets, and your hobbies. You get spoiled by anyone looking for a good time. Situations just "work out" so you can enjoy yourself without dealing with the bill or the stress of planning. Whether it is a date or a creative collaborator, they want to handle the heavy lifting so you can just focus on being entertaining.
Virgo Venus: People spoil you by handling your chores, organizing your life, and giving you practical tools. You get indulged by coworkers or staff who do the "grunt work" so you can stay focused. You receive high-quality health perks and technical favors that others have to pay for. Even though you are a worker, others want to serve you by making your systems run perfectly. You are pampered by those who value your precision and want to keep you efficient.
6th House Venus: You get spoiled by people who work for you or your coworkers. Even though this house is usually about hard work, your version involves people doing your chores or handling the annoying parts of your job so you do not have to. You get the best treatment at the doctor’s office or the pet store. People in service roles just want to help you. You are the one who gets the extra-long massage or the coworker who offers to finish your report.
Libra Venus: You are spoiled by people who want to keep your life beautiful and balanced. You get the most favors when you are being social and charming. Others concede to your wishes in negotiations and offer you "sweetheart deals" just to stay on your good side. Institutions treat you with extreme politeness and leniency. You are pampered by anyone who finds you pleasant, and they will often fix your problems silently just to maintain the harmony between you.
7th House Venus: You are heavily indulged by partners and "the other." Whether it is a romantic partner or a business associate, they want to give you the world. You find that in any one-on-one meeting, the other person is the one making the concessions and offering the perks just to keep you around. They view being with you as a prize, so they spoil you with their time, their resources, and their loyalty to ensure you stay interested in the relationship.
Scorpio Venus: You get spoiled with deep loyalty, intense resources, and access to secrets. People want to give you their total trust and financial backing. You find that institutions are strangely flexible with you regarding debts or private matters. You are indulged by those who find you fascinating and want to earn your favor. You receive "under-the-table" perks and deep emotional investments from others who want to be part of your private, powerful world.
8th House Venus: You get spoiled by other people’s money and "the system" regarding debts, taxes, or inheritances. You find that institutions are weirdly lenient with you, or you get access to deep resources (like a partner’s bank account or a government refund) that you did not strictly earn through labor. It is the house of "other people's stuff," and for you, that stuff is constantly being handed over. You are the one who gets a surprise grant or a debt forgiven by a total stranger.
Sagittarius Venus: You get spoiled with freedom, travel perks, and big opportunities. People want to fund your adventures and share their wisdom with you for free. You get indulged by schools, travel agencies, and foreigners who want to see you expand your horizons. The universe seems to clear a path for you whenever you want to try something new. You are pampered by those who love your spirit and want to help you experience everything the world offers.
9th House Venus: You get spoiled by higher education, travel, or religious institutions. When you travel, you get the better seat or the nicer room; when you are in school, the professors favor you and overlook your mistakes. People from different cultures or "big thinkers" want to share their wealth and wisdom with you just to see you thrive. You find that the universe clears a path for you whenever you are trying to expand your mind or see the world.
Capricorn Venus: You get spoiled by authority figures and "the system" with status and long-term security. People want to give you the title, the office, and the responsibility because they trust you. You get indulged by bosses who fast-track your success or mentors who give you the "old boys' club" treatment. You receive the best professional favors and institutional support. You are pampered by those who see your ambition and want to invest in your inevitable rise to the top.
10th House Venus: You get spoiled by bosses, authority figures, and the public. You get the promotion because the boss likes your attitude or your face. The "institution" of your career path clears obstacles for you. You are seen as the "golden child" of your industry, and people in power want to be associated with your success. You receive public praise and professional favors that others have to work decades for, often because you are simply pleasant to have around.
Aquarius Venus: People spoil you by giving you the space to be yourself and connecting you to influential groups. You get indulged by friends and organizations that offer you unique perks or "inside" access to new tech and ideas. Your social circle acts as a massive support system, handing you opportunities and gifts without you asking. You are pampered by the collective; groups and unions favor you with special status because they value your unique contribution to the whole.
11th House Venus: You get spoiled by your social circle and "the crowd." Friends give you gifts, invite you to the best parties, and connect you with people who can help you. You are the darling of the group, and collective organizations like clubs or unions tend to grant you special favors or exemptions. When you have a goal, your friends rally to make it happen for you, often providing the funding or the manpower without you having to ask twice.
Pisces Venus: You’re spoiled with "magical" luck and deep, silent kindness. People want to take care of you without taking credit for it. You get indulged by anonymous sources, charities, or institutions that treat you with unexpected mercy. When you’re in trouble, a solution usually appears out of nowhere. You are pampered by the universe itself; situations resolve in your favor through "coincidences" and the gentle, hidden support of those who feel a deep, spiritual connection to you.
12th House Venus: You get spoiled in ways no one sees. This is "hidden luck" where you get out of trouble because of a clerical error or receive help from an anonymous source. Institutions like hospitals or large government agencies treat you with unexpected kindness. You are indulged by the universe when no one else is looking. It is the "guardian angel" effect; when you are at your lowest or most isolated, a situation arises that solves your problem perfectly and silently.

The two faces of a God.
A Crash Course in Warding
Let’s just start a series of crash courses in witchcraft, since sometimes we need to learn things the quick and dirty way. Today, let’s talk about wards.
What are wards? Wards are protective energy barriers. They keep things out. You can place them around your home, certain rooms, even on certain objects. With practice and clear intentions, you can focus the wards to block out everything or only certain things. We’ll get to that in a bit.
Why should I ward my space and my things? Wards can keep out all sorts of things you don’t want in your home. They can block out negative entities, wayward spirits, mischievous entities, demons, and (if you’re really good at what you’re doing) even gods. Some people ward their divination tools so they know there are no spirits tampering with the results.
So what do I need to do first? Cleanse. This is very important. Wards are kind of like walls, or perhaps more accurately, bubbles. If you don’t clean the space first, you might trap things inside your ward bubble. You do not want that. There are lots of methods of cleansing, from burning sage to spritzing oil-infused water. Find a method you’re comfortable with and cleanse everything you’re going to be warding.
I’ve cleansed my home/item. Now what? Now we ward. I’m going to give you a couple methods. Let’s start with my favorite, incense warding.
Incense warding can also be done with spritzes of water/essential oil blends or herb-infused water if you can’t have smoke in your space. Whichever you’re using, you want to have a blend of protective herbs. Bay leaves, cinnamon, ginger, mustard seed, and salt are some great options that you can find in the grocery store, no fancy witch shop necessary. If you’re using incense, make sure you’re using natural incense and not super cheap stuff that’s artificially scented. The magic is in the herbs, and you won’t get that from fake scents.
How to Incense/Spritz Ward an Item
Smoke or spray item.
Visualize the smoke or spray clinging to the item and wrapping around it like a tight blanket, protecting it from anything that would cause harm (or interference, etc.).
How to Incense/Spritz Ward Your Space
Pick a place to start. I always start at my altar, but it’s up to you. If you’re doing multiple floors, start either at the top or bottom floor.
Moving continuously to your right, smoke or spray along the walls and door frames. As you go, imagine a barrier being formed around the walls, ceiling, and floor, pushing outwards to fill the room. Visualize the smoke or spray forming the barrier to keep out anything that will do you harm. [If you have a hard time with visualization, you can simply focus on the intent of the smoke or spray keeping things out.]
Keep moving right, following the layout of your home, making sure you get all the closet spaces. You basically want to outline the entire area you’re protecting, whether it’s you’re room or your whole house.
For multiple floors, repeat on each level.
For big layouts where there are rooms in the middle, go around those rooms as well.
I like to reinforce the wards over outside doors, windows, and mirrors. These are all passages of sorts, and when I reach them, I use the incense to draw a pentagram in the air over them. This is entirely up to you.
You’re done when you’ve reached the point where you began.
So why do we go to the right? Is that important? Kind of. Going to the right is like going clockwise. It’s about making things and progression, where going to the left or counter-clockwise is about deconstruction or reversal. [I read this idea in a witchy book a long time ago and will try to find a source when I can. If you honestly don’t feel it makes a difference, do whatever you’re comfortable with.]
Can I place wards that keep out certain things but not others? Sure. When you’re going around your space/warding your item, your intent is what’s important. I like to ward out entities that mean harm - it’s nice and general and doesn’t keep the fae out. Some people might want certain spirits and not others. Have your intentions clear in your mind as you place your wards.
That’s neat and all, but what are some other ways to ward? Let’s list a few.
Symbol/Sigil Wards
Choose (or make) a symbol or sigil that has protective properties. I’ve done this with Pluto’s astrological symbol because I worship him and it’s my way of being like, “Hey, Pluto. Please protect me, kthanxbai.” Pentagrams are nice and basic witchy/pagan symbols if you like them.
Draw the symbol over doors and windows. You do not literally have to draw it. It can be in water, incense smoke, or just your finger against the surface if you want.
As you’re drawing, make sure you have your intentions in mind - that nothing harmful can pass through this door, that the windows remain closed against entities, etc.
Energy Bubbles (if you have control over your energy)
Pick an item - any item.
Get your warding intentions in mind.
Channel lots of energy into the item. Visualize it emanating from the item in a bubble to fill your space.
If you’ve got mad skillz, you can form the bubble to the walls and be super exact with where its barriers are.
Vocal Wards
If you like spoken (or thought) spells, come up with a small chant to protect your space.
You can repeat this chant as you focus on your item being protected or as you walk around your home, protecting every room.
This is really great to incorporate into basically any other form of warding and gives your magic an extra bit of oomph.
I’ve heard wards can “fade” over time. True or false? Wards are just energy. Like all energies, they can disperse and weaken over time, or if something particularly nasty puts effort into destroying them. Redo your wards every so often (I do mine every few months, but it’s up to you), and especially before spiritual interactions. I also like to do mine after I’ve had lots of company, to kind of clear out family’s lingering energies and reinforce what I don’t want in my house.
In general, the intent of your wards is the most important part. Know what you want to keep out. This concludes our crash course on warding. Now go forth and protect some stuff!
