100 naturellement cinq-vingt. 1000 ? deux-vingt-dix-vingt très simplement. 2025 c’est suprême ; cinq-vingt-vingt-vingt-cinq… c’est aussi 40005 mais tu sais par contexte ouais ?
turgon doesn’t share his dream (14/?)
Anyway I think Elenwë convinced Turgon to cross the Ice. This solves two problems for me: (a) why Turgon was opposed to Fëanor in the big Oath-swearing, Finweans-have-an-argument episode but chooses to go anyway, and (b) why he builds Tirion 2.0 in Middle-earth. He never wanted to be there. He went for Elenwë’s sake, and now she’s dead, and he wants to go home. (Also it gives Elenwë some fun agency.)
Then they are re-embodied and are furious with each other. They don’t want to be, but they are.

Re: the previous reblog I'm gonna take it out into a separate post because I don't want to clog the tags but a. I love how profound the breakdowns are in TGAA. Like you have the traditional screaming crying shitting pants style breakdowns, but also there are the more subdued ones. Enoch who kinda just collapses. Courtney who hits the bench. Of course there's Kazuma who keels over and strikes the bench with his fist (AND his hand is shaking when he raises his fist to strike the bench oh his breakdown is so good). And Barok, who was the subject of last reblog. He leans back much like his damage animation (which is also an AMAZING animation, more on that later too btw) and screams, but this time he's more animate and more dramatic. And he covers his scar and he looks up while screaming and he's so so vulnerable. No need for exaggerated lengthy cartoonish breakdowns. Because Barok isn't a cartoon character, he's a character. Neither is Kazuma, nor is Courtney. They are all characters. They are faced with a horrible situation of despair and react appropriately. You don't need a foolishly foolish over-the-top exaggerated breakdown. A vulnerable scream from the depths of your heart will do more than enough. Striking the bench with a shaking fist will do more than enough. Those two breakdowns (Barok's and Kazuma's) show so so much in so little. The devil is in the details etc etc
AND Barok's damage animation!!! Fuck it's so good
He doesn't even scream or anything, no, he just kind of recoils back quietly and gracefully and clutches his brother's pin that he keeps on himself as a memento
It's so good. He's so reserved and good. Trying his best to stay as collected as possible in difficult situations. Of course "reserved" might not be an accurate description because he's being rather dramatic here with that pose and recoil and him gently clutching his pin, but he's dramatic in a reserved way? If that makes sense? He would never resort to flailing and screaming and whatnot. He is graceful and reserved even in his pain. His lips are a little bit glossy if you pay close attention and. Oh sorry I got sidetracked what was the post about. Oh right, he's graceful and reserved, even in his pain. He doesn't scream in his (stupidly beautiful) damage animation because he wants to be reserved and dignified about it. The scream only comes out when it matters, when he can no longer hold it back, when he is faced with a revelation so horrible he simply cannot keep it in himself anymore, and he screams, and he recoils, and he becomes vulnerable for a split second: during his (also stupidly beautiful) breakdown. He allowed himself one scream and he made it count. Oh how he made it count
ohhh i love the comparison of his breakdown and the damage sprite. there is a lot to read into of how... quiet it is compared to other characters
i think the most fair comparison would be to edgeworth, who is probably the most similar animation-wise particularly with his 3d animations
even HES more dramatic, where his animations seems more snappier and hes also scowling too. something which barok isnt doing in his damage sprite
in contrast, barok is very reserved, slow and graceful and needs to pay way more attention to his presence in the courtroom... which i think you can kinda link the the mindset of ballet too
and YES. the scream. he doesnt scream or try to release anything in his damage sprite. it only comes out during his breakdown which i think really shows 1. how much hes holding it in and 2. how much pain he was in at the time
also side now i just need to appreciate the physics on on barok's hair. its so bouncy i like looking at it
an old music mute for the WIP filename game!
Thanks for the ask, Ray!
That's actually the Cévalindë AU! If you haven't seen it yet, @balrogballs created a beautiful wonderful Turgon artwork that is the Turgon from this AU.
Basically, Turgon gets reembodied in the early Second Age (~SA 800), promptly freaks out about it, runs off into the woods of Valinor, and has to be tracked down by Finrod.
No one is told when a relative/spouse is about to be reembodied, because no one knows until the second it happens. Word takes a little while to get to High King Finarfin in the first place, so it takes even longer for Elenwë and Idril, who live in Avallónë on Tol Eressëa, to learn about it. Elenwë was reembodied a short time before the War of Wrath, and aided Eärendil in his petition to the Valar. She's much more forgiving than Idril is of Turgon's actions (and inactions) during the First Age, and lives in Avallónë to welcome any returning Exiles. A core part of her character is loyalty, not blind but re-decided every single day. She followed the one she loves into Exile and she will follow him returned from it.
Idril, however, is still angry with Turgon for his short-sightedness in Gondolin, for "loving too well the works of his hands". She will welcome him back but she will not forgive him for a good while yet, if at all. A big part of the story so far is involved with repairing their relationship.
So, Finrod drags Turgon to Tirion for reasons of princely duty. Elenwë and Idril meet him there, and Turgon spent enough time both alive and in the Halls guilt-tripping himself for "letting Elenwe die" that it's a bit strained all around. Still hammering it out, but right now he's most likely to cast himself at her feet in supplication.
Fingolfin shuns him, cold and furious due to the abandonment that was Gondolin. Anairë shuns him, cold and furious due to the abandonment that was Exile. Aredhel and Argon are both returned and relatively happy to see him, but Fingon is refusing to come out of the Halls until Maedhros is released and would have shunned Turgon also (maybe? I'm currently figuring out any interactions the two would have had in Mandos and maybe they worked some things out).
Eventually, Turgon ends up striking out of Tirion because it's a polished prison and building his own city: Cévalindë. At some point (how far in the future? Who knows) he sorts himself out and starts taking in people who don't feel they fit anywhere else in Aman, like Lalwen (who is also mad at him for a while) and Maeglin after reembodiment (there will be yelling involved).
Other things that have happened/will happen:
Running joke about orgies in Gondolin (this is Aredhel's fault).
Turgon gets his Lords back (Glorfindel and Galdor first, but with them come Ecthelion and Egalmoth and at that point Rôg and Penlod say fuck it and join. Duilin has been living in the walls this whole time.)
Aegnor is bitter because Idril got to keep her mortal and he didn't.
Eluréd and Elurín! Not sure what they're doing but they're here!
How do you hold your festivals, keep your culture when nothing in the land is the same? The flowers of Gondolin do not grow here. The familiar spices are sourced from halfway down the continent, or across the sea. The metal you carve your lanterns from is in a vein you haven't reached yet.
Have fun supervising this clutch of eagle eggs. Surely Thorondor will not kill you if something happens to them.
Fingolfin is certainly not planning a coup. This certainly will not exacerbate any tension between any of the characters.
Maglor gets an orchestra.
It all sounds better in my head; I promise.

TURGON OF GONDOLIN
An illustration style rendition of Turgon for @ignotr, as commissioned in February by @the-other-side-of-mirkwood 🥰 I really enjoyed hyperfixating on this one, especially with the embroidery and general white roses theme, his relative… er, turgidity, and everyone knows I love a good grey streak. Prosthetic fingers from the Helcaraxë years as well! Also @peasant-player pattern making a reappearance on his sash 🥰
commissioning details
For me? Beautiful wonderful perfect artwork is for me?
Thank you so much; thanks both of you with every bone in my body!
This version of him is from an AU (I mean, could be canon; not like we get any information about Valinor after the First Age) that I'm slowly pecking away at, but I haven't posted any yet because I want to be decently far enough before I do.
I'm calling it the Cévalindë AU because that means "new/renewed song" in Quenya, and Cévalindë is the name of the new city Turgon makes after he's reembodied. If Elrond's Imladris is the Last Homely House East of the Sea, his great-grandfather can have the First Homely House West of it.
(Dynamic of guy whose life purpose is to keep people safe (Turgon) plus people who were harmed as a direct result of his actions or inactions (Idril, Fingon, Fingolfin, Aredhel, Lalwen in this story, Eärendil, Elenwe kind of, most of the Ñoldor, etc.))
(Although, Fingon is refusing to come out of the Halls until Maedhros is released from the Void, so it'll be a while before we see him.)
(Turgon's got an uphill battle, but he'll get there.)
The white roses are a huge motif throughout the story. Primarily, they're meant to represent Idril, as I've made her a gardener who cultivates them. Behind that, they represent guilt—Turgon's guilt for dying and leaving Idril alone, for not being able to save Elenwë on the Ice, and the rising realization that while Gondolin was beautiful and kept many people safe, he did abandon the majority of his people during a war in which they all died (his family included).
The circlet is so cool and I'll have to find a way to work it into the story somehow!
I've been describing Turgon mostly as wearing blue, even though Elenwë prefers purples and so he does as well (along with whites and reds). This is because, after reembodiment, his relationship with Fingolfin is incredibly strained due to the aforementioned abandonments. Turgon is trying to align himself visually with his father's house, but Fingolfin's not very forgiving so far lol.
And the prosthetic fingers! I like when there are physical reminders of the Helcaraxë so I started taking limbs. The way I'm doing reembodiment is that any wound/scar connected to a major emotional event remains even in rebirth if you don't come to terms with it in Mandos.
(Turgon came to terms with nothing in Mandos.)
The grey streak made its first appearance on the Helcaraxë and widened with the death of Arakáno. It then stalled for a while, but a couple more appeared when Aredhel, Fingolfin, and Fingon died. In Mandos, hair doesn't follow the scar pattern because of its growing nature, but he gets stressed enough in Valinor for the grey to come back hehehe. I'm glad other people like it.
Eagle feathers in his braids! I recently gave him a clutch of eagle eggs to look after, so Thorondor, his mate Glorfess, and I are watching him very closely.
yay turgid turgon
I'll probably start posting about this AU now!
"All is lost, right?" "All is lost."
I wasn't ready for Saint-Just & Robespierre's moment at the end of La Terreur et La Vertu
Thinking about the sexual tension in La Terreur et La Vertu, between Robespierre and everyone else...except Danton
look at this dude lol 🤡
LMAO I forgot this part that's so soon after the 'am I bothering you' part- Danton tries to hug Robespierre, and he pushes him away 😂 The same Robespierre who like continuously stands too close to everyone else clasping onto hands and making intense eye contact. But he cant even hug Danton lol
LMAO it's real world Robespierre but for Danton only. Everyone else gets sexy yaoi world Robespierre
'Sexy yaoi world Robespierre' is a phrase that will stay with me forever 🤣
when you say something embarrassing at a party and also its the french revolution
Imagine Jean Valjean taking Javert hiking in the woods and afterwards tugging deer flies off his fluffy sideburns

There's a Hell Version of Rei's life where she does actually get adopted and they (the Ichinomiyas) force her into Fukiko's high femme aesthetic and she joins the Sorority as Fukiko's actual sister. Ichinomiya Rei. Eaten alive by the structure of sisterhood and womanhood in a different and arguably worse way than how she is rejected and yet enmeshed by it in canon.
Listen if I were Turgon and a messenger from Ulmo showed up like time to abandon your secrecy because I, Vala of the Deep, have commanded it RIGHT AFTER NARGOTHROND FELL FAMOUSLY BECAUSE THEY BUILT A MASSIVE FUCKING BRIDGE THAT REVEALED THEIR LOCATION. Well.
And if at this point I were Turgon and I asked ok bro that sounds great so anyway tell me a bit more about yourself and oh my Eru is that Voronwe. And you said to me ahahaha yeah that's right anyway all the messengers you sent into the west? DEAD. VORONWE ONLY ONE RETURNED ALIVE. Me? YOUR ONLY GUY. How in the world you'd possibly escape Morgoth even if we did do an evacuation? DON'T WORRY ABOUT IT. Well.
And well if I were Turgon. And I was in Gondolin. And in the last and only military engagement where ZERO HELP FROM THE WEST CAME and my brother DIED TERRIBLY. And it's literally THE worst time to ever leave secrecy and out of the three hidden kingdoms mine was the ONLY one to take huge casualties specifically because I did NOT stay safe inside but actually participated. And Ulmo gives me One Guy as his HOPE FROM THE WEST (where is the army hello). And my buddy city Nargothrond just got dragoned SPECFICIALLY because they gave up their location. And Doriath is only secure because of Melian (DO WE HAVE MELIAN ULMO IS NOT EXACTLY VERY RELIABLE). Well.
I would also say fuck this. We're not leaving.
