I will never NOT find it funny that Brennan set it up so specifically for Riz to be the president just for all the bad kids to be like "NOPE. Kristen." EVEN MURPH. Like each of the rat grinders is a parallel to a bad kid, kipperlilly being Riz's. He set up the "Good extracurriculurs for collage" and the intrepid heros see all this and still says. "NOPE. Kristen." and that will never not be funny to me.

i've started sitting in the nearby library on my lunch breaks and writing fanfic, and it's great! however, today it is much busier than usual, and although no one has yet approached me, the fact that i can feel people looking at me is a stark reminder that i have a starstruck odyssey sticker on my laptop that says "ask me about the brain slug that controls all my actions"

thinking about how ruby was always doomed to hate saccharina. how they probably would have gotten along if they had met while jet was still alive-- they held similar ideals about the bulb, ruby didn't want the responsibility that came with the crown anyways, and she and jet would have probably loved to have a big sister to get into shit with. but that was doomed to never happen, because jet and saccharina are both played by emily. there is no universe in which ruby meets saccharina without jet having died. there is no universe in which ruby doesn't see saccharina as a poor replacement for her sister, for her other half. saccharina would always be entering the narrative at the worst time-- with ruby having just lost her sister, and amethar his daughter. that resentment was doomed to exist, because saccharina can not exist without something truly terrible befalling jet.
