B: a pairing–platonic, romantic or sexual–that you initially didn’t consider, but someone changed your mind. oooo this is a good one! before i was, like, in college i didn't really ship non-canon relationships naturally (other than enjoltaire bc. well. it's enjoltaire lol) and so a lot of the non-canon ships i love from fandoms i was in earlier in life were all brought to my attention by general fandom or people i follow. some of the big ones i think of off the top of my head are gigolas & polly x maladict from monstrous regiment (i don't think they have a common ship name lol). fandom also helped me appreciate canon ships that i never really thought about in things like doctor who (ninerose & tenrose particularly) and [redacted], aka books or shows i watched when all i wanted was for the girls i projected onto to not have to be in a romantic relationship (yes, scientists are still puzzling over how i didn't realize i was aspec until i was nineteen when i had this sort of attitude, research has come up with no conclusive data lol)
N: name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice). this is a fun one! i'm not going to pick a fandom bc i've been a little all over the map lately, so i'll just list things i've been wanting in various fandoms i'm in! 1) more whump!!! i want all my blorbos (of ALL genders) bleeding out of the side of the road!!! put them through the ringer!!!!!! 2) speaking of roads, why not trap characters in a car and send them on a little roadtrip? a long drive crossing state lines in an enclosed space? so many different plot possibilities can happen on a road trip! 3) so uh. this is not a silly one like the other two answers but uh. i'd love to see more people acknowledging when two characters have equal or more insane yaoi moments to the popular ship counterparts and at least one of them is not a skinny white guy. i think i've just been noticing it more bc certain fandom activity has really thrust it into my personal spotlight recently,, but yeah. the choices of what relationships btwn two men a fandom paints as platonic vs romantic are sometimes glaringly obvious in their reasoning lol
