With the newer games coming out, there’s a lot of Pokemon to pick from.. it’s so hard to pick a favourite!!
BUT that means I can yap about how amazing Galarian zigzagoon is so uhhh LETS GET ONTO THAT!
On this page? WE, yes WE, LOVE Galarian Zigzagoon!
Galarian Zigzagoon, and Why it’s Great
—— Brilliant Design, Shining Perfection (its design)
Despite being a good Pokemon, Galarian Zigzagoon isn’t particularly remarkable. Being a route 1 Pokemon, it’s designed to introduce you to the game, have a pretty basic evolutionary line and potentially join your team for your playthrough of the game.
Galarian Zigzagoon also introduced us (the players) to Galarian forms of Pokemon in the Sword/Shield games. Being an alternate form to Zigzagoons from Hoenn.
Their design features many traits similar to that of its original form, with stripy fur and a bit of spikes, and a dark patch over the eye area.
Hoenn Zigzagoon has a lot of design elements shared with raccoons, which are found in places like Hoenn in the real world. This is a different story in Galar, which is based off the UK.
Raccoons have no known established breeding population, are not native to the UK whatsoever, and don’t inhabit it outside of zoos. So how could a raccoon Pokemon fit into the Galarian landscape?
It changes!
How does it change? The Galarian variant changes it’s appearance to appear more like a badger. Which are found wild in the UK! And while I don’t know anything about rock music, they’re also inspired by a rock band called KISS which is apparently inspiration for the star markings over its eyes!
Galarian zigzagoon is also a huge upgrade in design from the Hoenn counterpart. It includes more bold deign choices with the stars and contrasting black and white, having a scruffy coat which makes it seem unkept and a bit rabid at times, if at all. And glaring red toned eyes that stand out and pierce through the mostly black and white design, adding hints of colour and keeping things interesting.
And it’s shiny is also greatly representative of the UK too, even if it was unintentional!
Galarian Zigzagoon’s shiny is pink, white and teal, it keeps the nice contrast, and a very non-typical design that makes it feel like MORE than just a rodent.
One notable thing from my childhood in the UK was the corner shops. Most notably blue raspberry flavoured sweets, and normal raspberry sweets.
I wasn’t very social as a kid, but one thing the Scottish kids I went to school with made it clear was that they LOVED that stuff, even saying it was a critical part of their culture (which I’m unsure about the truths of, my point is, the kids cared a lot about blue/normal raspberry sweets).
Galarian Zigzagoon has both of these colours featured on it. Showing resemblance to this specific Coop product;
Now, you can see the blue and pink, can’t you? But why the ice lollies? Well, this is SHINY G zigzagoon. The gloomy and quite frankly dull atmosphere in the UK is ever so occasionally flooded with overwhelming amounts of light, when it’s bright we say the sun is SHINING, and when it’s sunny, it’s warm! So what can you do? Eat ice lollies! just as the sun shines, and we can dye our tongues blue, too does G zigzagoon!
—— How we Underestimate it’s Power;
Aside from its Genius design aspects, it also develops a relatively good typing and moveset as it levels up and evolves. Obstagoom, the finial evolution, has solid stats as well. Making Galarian zigzagoon a good investment for your team for a casual playthrough of the game, and also a flexible team member for any other type of playthrough.
How do I know how it’s so versatile? I’ve played Pokemon Sword over 11 times (DLC 5 times) and am on my 12th playthrough. 6/11 playthroughs, I used it on my team, and it stuck on my team!
Nuzlockes, shiny only, type exclusive playthroughs? What if I told you my Galarian Zigzagoon could easily play through all of them? And even be the one carrying my team at times?
Is that shocking?
We underestimate my Boy’s power. He is able to carry a team through 6 playthroughs, no potions, no G/D-max? No issue!
It’s amazingness is outstanding, we mustn’t underestimate it for longer!
