Don't get me wrong, I do like complex villains as much as the next person. But sometimes I just want my protagonist to be tortured by Badguy McEvil who has no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
and then I want people to kill Badguy McEvil without a speech about revenge bad and how this makes them just as bad as freaking Badguy McEvil, well known mass murderer and lover of torture

But also, yes! I love that prompt.
With the monster being actually awful. Hunter knows that their failure will result in many more deaths, the monster now angry and will go for revenge.
Hunter also knows exactly what Monster will do. They studied them, they've seen their victims. This knowledge would help in defeating them, but non of that matters anymore. This is going to be awful, and there is nothing they can do about it.
When the Monster has powers that will control Hunter. Sending them back to take out their own Team.
If it's a monster that kills slowly.
Monster leaving Hunter's body out as bait, marking of territory, or a warning. Team finding it.
Monster who is smart, and leaves Hunter as bait, still alive. The Team comes to recue them, of course. It's a trap.
With the Monster not being awful.
Trying to reason with Hunter who is just terrified or angry. No matter how much Monster tries to show they're not evil, Hunter keeps trying to kill them.
Monster who isn't evil generally, but now that Hunter is here, will do exactly what Hunter planned to do to them. After all, they were fine with it being done to Monster, right?
Monster actually being scared to death because they know more will come now.
Monster was also injured and now needs to find a way to patch themselves up.
Hunter getting sympathy for Monster?
But Team comes in a kills Monster anyway?
Hunter defending Monster, but Team thinks they've been mindcontrolled?
i really am not a fan of the way that people who prefer/want to see more of certain types of whumpees and certain types of trauma responses depicted (usually more stoic/combative/'messy'/'not your ideal trauma victim' as if that's a thing that exists/not weak and cowering (as if that is rewarded in trauma survivors...), just generally less emotional or at least emotional in a way that's Angry and Resentful being the desired depiction) will often take a really snarky and mean, like. aggressive tone towards those other depictions. and i would like it if people reined that way in maybe. you can say that you want to see a whumpee who is angry and lashes out without saying 'that isn't your perfect little trauma victim who is all demure and weepy,' y'know?

Character A who is sharing their magic/powers with someone else (B). B either doesn't have powers, or lost theirs, or is just a lot weaker so it's nice to have a little extra.
They don't use a lot of it, but this sharing allows for that extra boost, should they need it. A notices when B uses it, but it's never a lot.
Until one day, when B is not around. And suddenly A feels their powers being used. Not like the other times though, it's a lot.
B is in trouble.
So now there is a missing B, A who is getting weaker because B is using their powers, and nobody has any idea what is happening.
(Bonus points if A has healing powers, so B is clearly badly injured, or helping someone else who is.)

The pain spikes, flaring bright in their mind, and then slowly settles again, becoming a dull ache. They remember to breath. In, out. Easy does it. They're sweating, and it hurts, but they won't panic. Can't afford to panic.
One down. Thirty-nine to go.
It's honestly a shame that so many stories usually have one main Villain, but never really a Team. You'll have it on the Heroes' side of course, but there is one bad guy to defeat.
But imagine the whump if the Villain side also has a found family group, but you know. Evil.
Just the Team capturing one of them, the rest freaking out. One getting hurt or even dying, the Hero side watching the Villains also break and be protective of their own...
Yeah I just wish for more of that.

Whumpee is given the task to write down a list of positive qualities about themselves and end up just staring at the blank page for hours. Or maybe they come up with some depressing, whump filled bullet points:
Don't eat much
Don't need much sleep
Can take a beating without making much noise
Don't complain
Good at first-aid
Can sleep anywhere
Know how to work around injuries while healing
Always try to follow orders

Oh, how about a bittersweet one?
They don't know how to write down postive traits, but they know progress.
Sleeps through most nights now
Eats more than before
Some days are good
Made a friend
Didn't get severely injured in past years
Healing well
No broken bones
Whumpee dissociating
Looking at their hands and feeling like they aren't real and aren't theirs.
Always feeling dizzy.
Thinking back at the whump and feeling like it was a dream.
Caretaker mentioning what happened to whumpee and they suddenly feel like they are no longer in their body.
Eyes darting to different objects in the room, feeling like non of it is real and they aren't really there.
A strange tingling sensation in their arms and legs.
A foggy memory of the whump, maybe not remembering it at all.
Falling back in old conditioned behavior without even realizing it is happening.
Spending hours just staring at the wall, unable to move or do anything.
Vision going blurry.
Snapping an elastic band against their wrist to get themselves back in their body. Maybe even self harm.
Not realizing they are crying until caretaker points it out.
Losing their ability to speak or think.
Having a memory resurface and then immediately forgetting it again, like a mist suddenly took over their brain.
Having a memory resurface but forgetting it the moment they try to speak it out loud, frustrating both themselves and caregiver.
Being clumsy, knocking things over, accidentally running into walls or doors or tables because they aren't aware where their body is.
Going from extremely emotional to extremely numb to extremely emotional to extremely numb.
Yeah I just think Whumper should pull Whumpee's hair to pull their head back and expose their throat

And whumpee tries to control a nervous swallow that whumper (and everyone watching) totally notices.

And jaw going tight, trying to keep themselves together and not breathing heavily. Still exhaling sharply through their noise in pain/fear.

When Whumpee has the realization that they're bait to lure Caretaker into a trap.
The confidence they had suddenly wiped off their face. Replaced by fear not for themself, but for Caretaker. Even the stoic Whumpees can't hide that.

Living Weapon being forced to kill mindless clones of their loved ones over and over again to desensitize them for when/if they ever have to do it for real.
When a villain and a hero are both captured together.
Forced to work together to escape from a worse threat. Possibly tied up together. Both of them are surprisingly protective of each other when one of them gets hurt.
When they escape or rescued, do they vow to remain as enemies? Or do they become friends as a result of learning something deeper about each other?
they both swear up and down that this doesn't change anything

Whumpee and Caretaker who have ShitTM to work through when Whumpee is finally safe at home again.
Maybe they already had issues. Maybe things were revealed during the time Whumpee was gone.
Obviously Caretaker wants to help. But they're still Caretaker and Whumpee is still Whumpee. Despite the injuries and the trauma, they still clash like they used to.
The night after they had a fight, Whumpee has a nightmare. A bad one. And Caretaker is there to help them through the panic.
As they sit in the kitchen after, in the middle of the night, it's quiet.
Caretaker has a lot to think about. They're still mad at Whumpee. But...
Fuck. They've been through so much. Caretaker finally realizes how not okay Whumpee is. At the same time, that doesn't magically resolve their issues.
How will they ever make this work?
