Mounted Postal Knight, for the upcoming Obojima expansion book: Tales of Yatamon
DON'T ASK YOURSELF "AM I A GOOD PERSON?" ASK YOURSELF "IS WHAT I AM DOING GOOD?" OR EVEN! "WHAT'S A GOOD THING I CAN DO RIGHT NOW?"
DON'T WORRY ABOUT JUDGING AND SORTING YOURSELF! JUST MAKE YOUR BEST CHOICES!!
Ok but pls actually do this people. There is no such thing as a good person. Stop trying to be one and starting trying to do good instead
Woman hearing her train is arriving over the intercom and rushing a little faster than she should down the stairs, tripping once she's on the platform, cane goes flying, hitting the floor and hissing in pain as her whole body just smacks against the cement paving
It's quiet, dead as hell.
An hour until the next train, and she hates having to wait for hours on the platform for the next one when she does a late shift and the trains are more spaced out, but she literally lives across the road from her home station, and she hates taxis bc people are always Weird and make strange convo
She hears the train's doors shut on the far side of the platform, hears the train rumble and then set off, and she groans, face basically mashed into the cold floor, and half pushes herself up on her elbows, feeling about for her cane even though she knows it clattered further away
It's dark as hell, and even if it wasn't, she'd never be able to distinguish between the white of her cane and the grey of the floor
She suddenly jumps up when she hears steps on the cement, hadn't realised there was anybody else in the station
"Here's your cane."
It's a rich voice, resonant and deep, a man's, but he's not really distinguishable from the rest of the dark of the station. Tall.
"On your left hand side," he says quietly - calmly, no fuss, no anxiety. It hurts to grip hold of the cane, grit and roughness on her hands. "May I help you up?"
God, she hates strangers. She's not very fond of people she actually knows, but strangers are worse, especially the ones that are desperate and eager to help and fucking weird about it. This one, at least, doesn't seem that desperate, and doesn't have the frantic energy some people do.
And, for once, she actually does need the help.
"Please," she mutters.
"Is anything broken?"
"I don't think so," she says, grunting in pain as she pushes herself up onto her knees. "Except skin."
"I'm going to put my arms out, just grip me by my forearms or lean your weight on me."
She doesn't grip his forearms, leans her forearms against his instead - his hands are very big around her elbows, and he waits for her to put her weight on him before he lifts her, and God, it's clear that it's very easy for him. He IS tall, and broad, too. It makes her nervous.
"May I look at your hands?" he asks, and she doesn't know why she lets him - because he's so big, because he keeps saying "may I", because he asks instead of just grabbing for her, she doesn't know, but she lets him.
She lets her cane rest against the crook of her elbow as she turns her palms up.
"Ow!" she hisses as his thumb touches against the side of her palm - his hands are very warm, and very careful. His fingers feel ridiculously large against her wrist, and it's not as if she's an especially dainty woman, not skinny, really.
A cloth runs over her palm and the pain retracts a little.
"What is that?" she asks. "Antiseptic?"
"Yes," he says calmly, and strokes her other palm - it tingles, the wet slide against her skin and her fingers, and then the pain is eased in each of her hands. "You should put this shirt in the wash as soon as you get home. You stained it in the fall."
She doesn't know if that's some weird fucking come on, feels herself stiffen, but he's already pulling back.
"The wrist loop on your cane," he says.
"I caught it in a door," she says.
"May I?"
She stands there for a second. He doesn't reach for it, doesn't try to take it.
His hands aren't even out, she doesn't think - he's keeping them to himself. She flexes her fingers, feeling the ease on each side, no pain now - her body is a bit bruised, her knees scuffed, but her hands feel fine.
After a second's hesitation, she holds out her cane by the handle.
He doesn't take it from her, just holds it steady and does something quickly, must be tying the loop or something, and then his hands come back.
"There," he says. "The next train is in thirty-seven minutes."
"Thank you," she says, and doesn't ask, even though she actually almost wants to.
Why's he so normal about it? Why's he NOT a freak about a blind woman, why is he NOT weird or anxious, or too helpful in unhelpful ways?
"You're facing Platform 2," he says. "The line is just ahead of you-- yes, there you are. Good night."
She doesn't turn as he passes, goes up the stairs.
It's only when she gets home and Kelly says, "Jesus, Mer, are you bleeding? Your cuffs are all red!" and touches her hands that she realises it wasn't just a cloth on her earlier. "No cuts. Where'd the blood come from?"
"Just a spill at work," she lies. "Pork, I think, sorry. It's gross."
She puts the shirt straight in the wash, just like he'd told her to, and she feels her palms, feels how there's no grazing, no cuts, no scrapes. When she feels the loop of her cane, traces the string, she finds that he hadn't knotted it after all - it's a clean loop, threaded into the handle.
Good as new.
Laughing - for some reason, she's more amused and giddy than scared, the fear completely evaporated - she falls into bed, and dreams of a very big man with magic hands, and wonders what it might be like to let him touch her some more, next time.
FIN.

I have surprisingly been getting messages from people asking whether I'd do a post about my design notes for the deadly seven sins. Alright then, here goes;
Design Notes; The Seven Deadly Sins
Greed points at everything they want and grasps anything they can. Their true form is unseen. Their own hand partially blinds them. Different eyes puncture their crown, stolen from others. They float, detached from all. Their stick is sharpened at both ends
It is the first and oldest design, dating back to 2023
The stick sharpened at both ends is a reference to Lord of the Flies (in the book, one end of the stick goes into the earth while the other holds a severed head) I wanted it to symbolize violence
Sloth exists in a wrapped cloth that provides comfort but muffles all sensations. Sloth doesnt see, speak nor hear. The cloth overwhelms them. They are bound by a rope whose edge reaches inside their confinement, giving them the ability to free themselves if so desired.
I made an extra effort to put the rope within Sloth's control, to avoid associating inertion from mental illness to laziness
I wrapped my Blajah plushie with a bed sheet and used my robe's belt as rope to get a picture reference for the upper body. Despite eerie origins, my designs come into paper with a lot of silly methods.
Pride exists inside a golden, hollow statue. Their gaze is set upon a cracked book of pages set in stone. Their laurel crown is sharpened to the point of horns. Pride can be set free if they break the outer shell that binds them with the gavel they use to condemn others.
The pose and clothing is a reference to the painting The School of Athens, by Raphael.
Being mettalic, the book only reflects back themselves. Even if you interpret it as stone, it would still work since the pages remain static
I like to imagine the rotten legs dragging their heavy statue shell around. Ever since I was little I have a strange fear of statues moving
Gluttony is a stomach, living and consuming themselves within their confinment. They’re not represented by an underweight or overweight person; it had to be something everyone has. Their scale is purposefully unspecified; because everyones is different.
The design resembles the Horseman of Famine because gluttony and famine are connected; the excessive hoarding by some people causes famine to others. They're like two different plates on a scale
While the basic representation is just fat, I never considered drawing an underweight person to counter it and appear subversive. When talking to a friend recovering from an eating disorder they mentioned how cheap and uncomfortable it is when people use extreme thinness just for the sake of horror and I have to agree. I always avoid drawing real bodies for horror
Lust is the only one who tries to disguise itself with a human appearance, tho it has too many hands. One hand to beckon, one to threaten, and one to silence you. It kneels because not all of its victims are adults. It lives undercover and invites you in as well
Many asked about the fourth hand: it's the one you only notice afterwards and are left wondering what it means, whether it's an innocent gesture or not. How it made you feel.
It has 2 other variation designs. While what I made before is beautiful, it is not unsettling enough. It has the artstlye of an angel rather than something human and dangerous
I settled on the design after a passage in the book Second-Hand Time, by Svetlana Alexievitch. It was a passage about a teen abused by a military squad, killed when she got pregnant, and mocked over how underveloped her body was. Because of that my original idea was to have Lust wearing military boots, but that would restrict the concept too much. I thought that drawing would make that passage less haunting to me, but to no avail.
Envy is a slowly burning and constricted heart. It covers its identity with a mirror; the more it seeks to resemble the reflection of others the less it will resemble itself. But even the reflection is broken, inaccurate, and unsatisfactory.
Many have said the concept looks like a chrysalis or a flower bud, unable to flourish. I like when people interpret my drawings, they often find beautiful meanings that escaped me
I pondered whether to paint the mirror in front of them black, to symbolize phone screens, but decided against it because it would blend into the background
Least popular design but one where people have told me ''I cant stop thinking about it'' the most, which made me cherish it a lot
Wrath is not a beast acting ravenous, but a human thing slowly crawling towards you. All of their actions are justified by the halo they claim to be righteous. The closer they get, the more they shed their humane appearance
It was a challenge to make wrath differ from someone being rightfully angry. It applies to all designs; how to portray dangerous excess to very common and not entirely wrong emotions.
Wrath has no legs. Nothing to stand on
''Little by little, it turned into that wild fury in which the eyes camouflage with a black veil, the fists contract with a tremedous force and your very teeth find the enemy'' Roughly translated quote by Nikolai Gumilev that I kept in mind while designing it. Amazing writer
That is all I can remember at the moment. Hopefully it saciates everyone's curiosity and not ruin the magic and mystery. Thank you very much for your interest. I will see you soon, when it's time for the Seven Heavenly Virtues

The remains of a mid-16th century church known as the Temple of Santiago is visible Friday from the surface of the Grijalva River due to the lack of rain near the town of Nueva Quechula, in Chiapas state, Mexico.

For my fellow vegan/vegetarians, these sound scrumptious and look pretty simple to make substitutions!

SWAN 🦢 ✈️ (Strategic Wyvern Aerial Navigator)
"The “SWANS” are biomechanical lifeforms that after years of mimicry adapted to resemble combat jets. Their wolfram-like skin not only is resistant to the toxic and parasitic dangers of the ‘false ocean’ but is nigh impossible to penetrate. While not a real bird they present many similar features and behavior. It's not all too rare to spot them flying in flocks and engaging in courtship
Swans are known to jam signals and strike airborne carriers since they’re an extremely territorial and violent species. First it will race against the enemy (it should be noted their structure allows them to reach enough speed to break the sound barrier) as a sign that they dominate the air space before they plunge the foe into the ground. Competitiveness amongst the species in a similar fashion has been observed to uncertain ends. In spite of all the gathered studies their intelligence and physical feats are still under research but paired with their enormous size and aggressivity is more than a difficult task.
They are rapacious hunters from the skies and encounters are advised against. There’s no current methods to defend against the Swans and in consequence it has obstructed facilities, aviation and transportation."
Here’s some sketches exploring one of my ideas for the creature from “The Terror” by Dan Simmons, and how I imagined it could work as a supernatural element while still able to be mistaken for a polar bear at a glance or in the distance.
