I think it's very appropriate that this regime garbs itself in a once popular franchise that has been sucked dry to the point of incoherence by its corporate owners and now trades in nothing but nostalgia for its better days

conversations sound better when they are whispered between kisses and cuddles instead of being typed on a screen

I think the limits of shame become apparent if you think of it in the context of an NTSB investigation, like as much as it might be satisfying to imagine Boeing or the FAA or DCA or the Defense Department ugly crying like waaa I'm such a piece of shit, you must hate me so much, I don't think that would actually be as effective as implementing sensible safety protocols with oversight mechanisms and maintaining reasonable staffing levels and aligning management incentives and all the other mundane yet essential tools we use to keep civilisation going, like apologies are great but only as the lead in for actual change, the only meaningful apology is "I'm so sorry that happened, and here's how I'm going to ensure it never happens again".
