one of my favorite parts of working on cradle is harping on shakra as like. a vehicle for horror. and like obviously there's a parasite situation and that's not so great if you're the thing the parasite is gonna put eggs in but like BEYOND that-
isn't it crazy how shakra sets up calling rings for herself?? is it not crazy how shakra can set up a ring in the kingdom of music- in the HAMLET of BELLS, WHICH RING ALSO- and the second she hears the unique pitch of HER ring, she'll just. come back?? where was she? how far away was she? doesn't matter i guess. here she is. it's shakra.
we've seen the way that hornet picks up trails because we use it as a mapping system for a couple of quests. hornet will find an item of importance- a recent item of importance, mind you- and pick up the scent. then she'll carry that scent with her for a little while, until she has to find the next source of it.
but shakra can seemingly follow significantly older trails for a significantly longer stretch of time. what is she even smelling?? we don't ever see her master's beads until we're seconds away from actually running into her. she tracks her master through hunter's march. i would imagine that pheromone trails are more common than blades of grass in a place so heavily dominated by ants. how did she pick up a trail in a place like that??
"your sword made a sound that sounded slightly different from all the other sounds, so i just flew over absurdly quickly. what did you need" girl you are the scariest fucking bug on earth
