Hello friends.

For the past 3 & 1/2 years, I've been providing weekly ttrpg recommendations for folks, and I've been happy to do so! However, I've found myself in a new stage of life recently that has dramatically reduced my free time. Ultimately, this is a good thing, but it also means that right now, I need to re-focus what little free time I have towards personal projects and time spent with friends.

I really enjoy providing recommendations for folks, and I hope to do so in the future - in fact, if everything goes as I expect, I should be flipping through my archives again in September later this year. But until then, There's A TTRPG For That will be put on a reduced posting schedule.

What this means:

I'm not accepting any recommendation requests or review requests for the duration of my hiatus.

I will be re-posting old recommendation posts for the duration of my hiatus.

There are one or two things that I may still release in the next 5 months or so, either because I agreed to them before going on hiatus or because I had the time & motivation to write about something.

Species File: THE VARACI

Long before the advent of the Union, during the age of the Anazali Imperiale, the Varaci were one of the oldest species in the galaxy. One of the few surviving Wanderers in the Dark, the Varaci had witnessed the rise and fall of many other species. One of few species who can be identified as a sapient plant, the Varaci have a unique life cycle: In their earlier years, as saplings, they are most mobile, the vinelike structures that make up their bodies having the most plasticity. In maturity, they grow into towering creatures with hardened wooden shells, slower but more resilient. In their final stages, they become rooted to the spot, immobile, and eventually metamorphose into stationary trees, their minds fading into the background noise of their rootlike neural networks.

NOTE: The Varaci were destroyed in the final days of the Anazali Imperiale. No known survivors from the species have identified for thousands of years, and they are presumed anhillated.

UPDATE:

Now that I have the game mostly conceptualized, I've moved over to my formatting software. This is the general page layout of the instructional portion of the game book, minus artistic embellishments and hand drawn symbols, which I'll add in another software once the layout is done.

My aim is to convey game rules as clearly as possible, through both written explanations and visual examples. This is done with the hope that the rules will be engaging and easy to absorb, especially once I've added symbols to represent certain values in the game.

||Hello everyone, our 14 year old dog Kia is in a dire need of a surgery to remove one her breasts. She has a tumor that we treated with medication, but she keeps licking it (even with the cone of shame 😭). So now it's inflamed... Between the surgery, the tests and the medication she will need to recover we will need help to cover the expenses. September was a month full of maintenance in our apartment (fridge stopped working, half of the apartment lost power and etc). So it will be so important to us if everyone can help 🤍 ||

Where's the African mythology?

Doing a little promo post to show off all the indie TTRPGs I've published so far as well as my upcoming KS for Skies Above.

I've been working freelance in the TTRPG space for about 4 years now. I've been playing TTRPGs for 25 years. I'm probably more passionate about games than I am about art. In the last 3ish years I've released 4 games of my own: Irezumi, Abbadon, Stone and WildSpace. Abbadon was even nominated for a CritAward in 2024 which was a bit of a surprise. My baby amongst all of my games though is Skies Above. I actually started working on it before I made the jump to freelancing in Tabletop Spaces. Which means I've been working on it for at least 4 and a half years and I'm excited to hopefully add it to all my other games which aren't only digital but physical books that you can hold in your hand and take with you to in person games.

GOING ROGUE is a game by my friend @jessfromonline inspired by rogue one & andor, about the grittier & ideologically fraught side of space rebellion, featuring cynical tragic heroes such as the SPY, the KNIGHT ERRANT and the CONVERT.
