Lost Haven Art

Hello! I'm Andy, otherwise known as Lost Haven Art in various places around the internet! I'm first of all a illustrator trying to make the full time freelance think work for me. Secondly I'm an avid fan of TTRPGs and I currently have two game projects in the works in various stages of development. Hopefully I can use Tumblr and some other social media sites with the chaos going on over on twitter at the moment to continue to promote myself and others within the arts and tabletop space.

My two game projects - Abbadon - The Thirteen Seals and The Skies Above are ttrpgs with their own dice mechanics not tied to any preexisting system. Both are homages to video game series and genres that I grew up playing and still enjoy to this day.

Abbadon is a dark fantasy RPG that takes a heavy dose of inspiration from the Diablo franchise and a lot of the asthetic look of Darkest Dungeon and Mike Mignola comics. It also uses playing card, your standard deck used for poker for action resolution. It uses four archetypes associated with each suit, each with thre unique skill trees allowing for flexible characters. Fighting demonds, undead and other monsters seeking to stop the rise of the demon lord Abbadon also comes with a share of random loot to make your characters stronger, as well as exp to spend on skills and attributes.

Sent all the copies out to Kickstarter Backers so now taking some time to show off some photos of the book itself for socials.

While waiting on the hard back books to arrive I'm working on some Ability and Condition cards for Skies Above. Here's some I whipped up just to show it off and see what people think.

Been a while since I've posted here but I've been diving deep into the layout and art for my current game project! I've included a few double page spreads bellow for people to have a look!

So my current TTRPG kickstarter has about 48 hours left until it wraps up. It's sitting pretty close to its funding goal! Any last minute pushes would be appreciated!

Created by illustrator and designer Lost Haven, Skies Above is a tabletop RPG whose core concept, setting and gameplay take heavy inspiration from classic Japanese RPG video games like Final Fantasy VI, Dragon Quest V and Secret of Mana. Other key inspirations for Skies Above include Sega Saturn’s Grandia and the beloved Dreamcast JRPG Skies of Arcadia, as well as the entire Legend of Zelda series.

In Skies Above, you’ll be free to explore this floating world as either a player character or the game master: who’s responsible for narrating the story and managing the gameplay. 

When creating a character, you’ll first need to choose a classic JRPG archetype to form their foundations. Perhaps your character is an aspiring young air pirate or secretly the descendent of a royal blood line? You can even create an amnesiac hero who must journey to discover the truth of their past. 

Once you’ve finalized your character’s JRPG archetype, you need to choose their Skyfolk origins. You have nine origins to choose from, including several inspired by the Final Fantasy series - such as the Usagihito (who are strikingly similar to the Viera) and Pommos, who bear many similarities to the adorable Moogles.

Exploring the world of Skies Above is a wondrous but sometimes dangerous endeavour, from sheer drops and ancient booby traps, to all manner of enemies such as scorpion bots; ice sprites; flying rabbits; harpies; oinklings (think Zelda’s moblins) and Slimes. When attempting to overcome a challenge, you’ll roll one d8 dice before adding relevant modifiers from your characters’ core attributes, skills, proficiencies and abilities - with the goal of meeting or overcoming the GM’s target number. When fighting, you’ll need to use whatever abilities, weapons and magic you have to defeat them and subsequently level up.

Skies Above features a vast world filled with secrets to be discovered, powers to be unlocked and friends yet to be made. It’s the tabletop roleplaying game for lovers of classic JRPGs.
