And I cant articulate it but I just think there is something there of like. This girl who was raised with the idea that she could never do anything right. Too anxious, messed up to much. And on her first day of highschool she killed someone. On accident but it happened. Its haunting.

But she gets attached to the idea of finding out what happened to this teenager that she didn't even know. Someone everyone else forgets about, moves on from to other things. It makes sense, so much is happening around them. But she is the only one that didn't forget.

But that attachmeant still leads to him being found. And hes dead but hes not gone and hes happy for once and despite it all she saved someone.

We learn that she is kind of dismissive about it, when she speaks about the Oracle, right? And they're all Elves in her family, so she has no real point of connection with mortality until she kills this person on her first day and suddenly death is very real. It is blood on her heads and gore on the floor of the cafeteria and metal in her hand that is not cold anymore because she held it to tightly.

She focuses so much on Zayn and finding him because he too is dead and he was also just a teenager and she needs to know if he is okay because that means that she might be too. Despite knowing death. Despite the very real threat of dying sooner than expected because she chose this life. She finds and remembers Zayn because that means someone might find and remember her too.
