he saved a full-time queen from a coyote that was chasing them, and got bit pretty seriously in the process. he'd have lost the eye no matter what, but the scar is so dramatic because he couldnt stop scratching it. his older sibling will never stop teasing him
thanks for the ask i love the excuse to characterize the characters a bit more hehehe
The Ridgeface Clans' medicine cats have similar customs to those of the books, being responsible for both healing and spiritual connection. They take a vow to help any cat in need, no matter who they are or where they hail from. Notably, the promise to celibacy seen in the canon books is not something they follow. These medicine cats are free to take a mate and have kits if they please.
More info on each individual cat under the cut
Tallshadow - she/her
Head medicine cat of Valleyclan, she is quiet and observant. She's known for being especially virtuous, and sometimes gets involved in mediation issues within her clan.
Sunpaw - she/her
Born during the season of Ice, Sunpaw lost her tail and eartips to frostbite. Tallshadow nursing her to health is what introduced her to medicine. She is very timid and is slow to grow comfortable with strangers, but once she is close she's known for her generosity.
Mushroomdust - she/her
Head medicine cat of Burnclan, she is jovial and outgoing. An optimist to a fault, Mushroomdust tends to take losing patients hard. She's known for her ability to brighten the spirits of any cat around her.
Rivercall - they/them, Rattlerstripe - he/him
Both are considered the head medicine cats of Fallclan. Siblings from different litters who shockingly resemble their father. Rivercall is the older, and they have a goofy streak but can become surprisingly serious when the situation calls for it. They also have a bit of a habit of snapping quickly and becoming irritated, especially with their annoying brother. Rattlerstripe has trouble taking anything seriously, and loves to crack jokes and make pranks. He has an impressive link to Starclan and knack for interpreting signs.
Sleekroot - he/him
Head medicine cat of Marshclan, and oldest medicine cat of all the clans. He is calm, level-headed, and can be a bit of a tease. He was very close to Honeypad, and watches over Pinewhisper in his stead. Sleekroot would like to retire someday, but no Marshclan kit has shown interest in medicine in his time. He has a quick eye for signs and omens.
Pinewhisper - he/they
Head medicine cat of Treeclan. He is known to be grouchy and introverted. Has trouble connecting with others, although the grumpiness is mostly connected to his chronic pain. After growing up in a severe famine, Pinewhisper never grew properly and has short legs that cause them pain. Spending much of their time in the medicine den as a kitten was what awoke their fascination with herbs. Talented at experimenting with medicine and finding new intuitive cures for ailments.
Rubblepaw - he/him, she/her as an adult
Rubblepaw is friendly and gregarious. Surprisingly patient, especially for a child. He looks up to Pinewhisper for his resilience and talent with medicine. Has good "bedside manner" and an easy time memorizing medicines, although his unique connection to Starclan is his most valuable talent, especially considering Pinewhisper's often cynical view of their ancestors and their meddling. Rubblepaw is Larchkit's first choice in living cat to bother with their schemes, and Rubblepaw responds to the ghost kitten with patience and understanding.

This short story by Junji Ito is about a fault that appears in Amigara mountain after an earthquake. The earthquake exposes countless human-shaped holes in the mountain which seem to have been made about a thousand years ago. People, intrigued by theseΒ silhouettes, gather at the site and thatβs when things get creepy.
Itβs about a 15-20 min read, but if you havenβt read this before, youβre in for a treat. Link above.
i mean itβs not like i can just NOT reblog amigara fault. what if one of my followers is one of the lucky ten thousand who HASNβT been unutturably altered for life by it yet? go read it! itβs creepy, but trust me, it was made for you.

My personal headcanon for Ash Ketchum has always been that regardless of if his dream ever came true he'd never truly stop traveling and learning. Because despite "becoming a pokemon master" being his goal if you actually sit down and watch like Any episode of Pokemon the thing that always holds true is his curiosity and desire to learn everything he possibly can related to pokemon. And he'll try anything to! He did contests and the battle frontier. He'd do those silly little shows with Serena if they'd let him.
So I like to imagine him continuing on in life as this nomad who people don't automatically recognize as anyone important ya know? Just this goofy guy going from place to place always lending a helping hand and hes got a cute lil pikachu on him. And hes often lost somewhere with a friend just exploring the woods to see if he'll find anything cool. Ya know, as hes always been, but older now. And its only once hes drifted once more do you maybe stumble into an article on the pokeweb about him and are like... that guy??
thereβs a dedicated ashandpikachuspotter account somewhere on some social media. You tag a photo or search for a term and boom, thereβs pics of this guy. this dude. this man. with his pikachu. and itβs thousands of strangers from across the globe coming on line to talk about some stranger that they met briefly and then never saw again. theyβve compiled their stories and their approximate locations and mapped his journey from continent to continent, a long snaking pathway that spans decades and thousands of miles. Heβs apparently one of those Kanto kids that the government let just drop out of school. Its working out very well for him.Β

I love that a lion with an eagle's head and wings is such a well-known mythical beast but apparently the English language can only agree on a grand total of 3 out of 7 letters in its name.
