st george has always annoyed me and I've always rooted for the dragon but I did a research project on the role of dragons in medieval english literature in sixth form where I concluded that the dragon was a metaphor for invading forces encroaching into britain (like the vikings) and it makes it harder for me to sympathise with the dragons given that they're a symbol of destruction in this reading, but I still want to root for them because they're so cool
