biography
tw; parental abandonment, partner abandonment.
Caroline was born an only child in a town called Ashford. Her parents loved her very much and always encouraged her passion for music. It seemed to be the only thing that she was consistently passionate about, which made sense when she was diagnosed with ADHD when she was seventeen.
When it was time to go to university, she had to study music. There was no other option - she didn’t thrive in her other school subjects the way she did with music. But Caroline didn’t mind that one bit, music was her first love. She was happy to make a career out of it. While she was in university, she decided to do a year abroad in New York City, and she fell in love with the city. When she took a road trip across the country during the summer, she fell in love with the US. After finishing her final year in England, she moved back to New York.
There, she started working in the pit for Broadway shows. She worked on Mean Girls, Wicked and Six. Before it became her job, Caroline wasn’t the biggest fan of musicals. She could appreciate the best of them, but she wouldn’t call herself a fan. However, she developed a deeper appreciation for the medium as time went on - but it never overtook her love for soft rock.
While working in the pit for Mean Girls, she met and fell in love with the actor playing Aaron Samuels. He wasn’t that talented, and his parents clearly bought is career for him. But Caroline found it so easy to dismiss his flaws, especially when he was so charming.
Then he got her pregnant, and promised to stick around.
After giving birth, Caroline began to feel like New York City wasn’t the best place to raise a child. But her boyfriend was pursing a career as a Broadway actor, so she stayed. He didn’t give her the support her promised, however, and got defensive whenever she brought up the subject. Eventually he left her all together.
She milked him for all the child support she could get, and decided to start anew in Maple Brook. It was quiet but close enough to New York.
Not long after she gave birth, Caroline quit drinking - and it allowed her ADHD medication to fully work. After the move, she went for a teaching certificate and did better in that than she did in school.
She loved being able to focus on her favorite music. She got a dog. She loved her son with everything inside of her. She set her roots, and built a whole new life.
