"Google AI Overview court loss in Germany could spell doom for AI search industry."
It fucking better.
Like to charge, reblog to cast?
tbh im not entirely immune to a villain with a tragic backstory but i do think villain origins are a lot more interesting when the focus is less "here is the original sin, the first big bad thing that happened to them that made them who they are" and more "here is the first time a person who maybe otherwise felt powerless in their life realized that they could hurt someone and get away with it"
you can get a lot more mileage out of analyzing a truly abhorrent character through the lens of like. what sort of conditions would allow or even incentivize this kind of cruelty? what kind of person benefits from those conditions and how? over the more typical who hurt them type analysis. imo.

wild theory: both Capitano and Dottore needed to "die" and will come back at the same time
as we remember, Capitanos deal with Ronova made him able to make changes to both the Night Kingdom and the ley lines. He opened the ley lines so the souls of his people couls enter it and also reconnected the night kingdom to the ley lines of the rest of teyvat.
Dottore destroyed the Irminsul, basically destroying the current ley lines. meanwhile all relevant data from Irminsul got saved in Aaru, but this is just a single place that doesn't have a "root network" yet that goes throughout all of teyvat.
now with the ley lines destroyed, Capitano (and the emperor of night) could easily extend their newly woven ley lines from Natlan to the rest of the continent, also reaching the remains of Irminsul.
The pyro gnosis most likely is with Dottore now who burned to ash, but as we know the pyro gnosis can destroy AND revive and plays a part in communicating with the night kingdom and getting peope back from there. the ignition trailer plays in the future, so we still need to see Capitano getting revived and possibly getting an ancient name (Mwongozo, who got mentioned by Xilonen in her trailer but didn't appear yet).
someone else could probably phrase this more cohesive, but what if the tsaritsas plan NEEDED both of them "dead" so they could rewrite how fate works. they are able to make the rules now and can bring themselves back through the pyro gnosis.

This kind of response to things I say about sex work, which isn't always phrased like this but almost always focuses on me being male or a man or my pronouns, shows a fundamental misunderstanding of why mansplaining is bad.
I am a sex worker. I have been for a decade. The majority of people I know are sex workers and I'm embedded in sex worker community. I started before 18 and have done it in brothels, cars, my own home, clients' homes, saunas, and hotels.
It's absolutely reasonable to criticize men who speak on issues they don't experience like an authority, especially when they speak over women to do it. It is not reasonable to raise someone's gender (or in this case, pronouns) as a reason their thoughts aren't worth hearing when the issue is one they do face.
I see people bringing up that I'm trans in response to things like this, as a way to legitimize my speech. The reason I refuse to do so, despite many of my experiences selling sex being pre-transition, is that I equally do not want cis men who have done sex work to be silenced on the topic.
We need more active and former sex workers to speak out. That won't happen if we're dismissing those who do.
I kinda feel like this is a general issue that some people do not understand: the entire thing about "splaining" is, that usually someone who is less experienced or educated on a topic speaks over minorities who are more experienced/educated. In the original context the word was coined to describe men speaking over women in a professional context. Specifically amateur men who would try and explain topics to a woman who did specifically study or work with that topic. Like, some clerk dudes trying to explain medicine to a doctor or stuff like that.
It has since also been adapted to be used to describe folks specifically traing to "splain" something to a minority who is affected. Like, pericis dudes explaining to people with an uterus how menstruation works, or pregnancy care or stuff like that. But we also have stuff like whitesplaining, cisplaining and stuff.
And I kinda feel like... let's be honest: the non-sex-worker women here are trying to... we need a good word for this... "splain" sex work to @mxjackparker - a sex worker - acting as if they as non-sex-workers have more to say on it due to being women, as if sex work was fully strictly gendered.

I just saw a video title on YouTube that said something like āWhy is glass transparent?ā And thatās an interesting question and Iām sure itās great that the video exists but my first thought was like āBecause glass is terrible, obviously.ā Because itās unwieldy and letās out warmth and needs to be heated to hundreds of degrees to be shaped and turns into hundreds of tiny daggers if you drop it. Why the hell would we bother with that if it didnāt have some magical quality like being totally transparent despite being solid? Glass is transparent because if it werenāt, weād use something else.
looking through my āmeā tag and this is apparently what I was thinking 3 years ago
If youāre still curious we did not start working glass for its transparency.Ā It was most likely started as a sanitary concern.Ā Glass is easy to clean with soap and water, once itās cleaned out you can use it again for anything and no germs or flavor from the previous meal or drink will remain.
Other materials at the time, namely clay, would absorb flavors and germs meaning that if you ate beef off a clay plate your next meal with that plate could have beef flavor and microbes common on cow meat on it.Ā That would leak out seemingly at random no less.Ā Heck imagine a sick person coughing into their soup bowl and then months later their germs hiding in the clay would pop out to infect whole new people.
Also the earliest human use of glass we know of is for its sharpness.Ā Pre-historic people would use volcanic glass as sharp knives for food preparation.Ā Also beads.Ā Pretty much any new substance humans get their hands on for most of our history we immediately try to make into beads.
The fact that it could become see through was a side benefit.
this is amazing and Iām really glad I reblogged that old bullshit post because I got to learn this
can't believe the only options are 30 minutes early or 10 minutes late. if only there were some other way. but what can you do
