QG is thinking of moving to Brooklyn, and it's funny because she's specifically thinking of Bay Ridge. I told my dad that her family is throwing a tanty and he's pissed because who could ever have a problem with a place like Bay Ridge?
I told him that if she moves to Bay Ridge I might follow. He said I could do a lot worse, which is funny considering he's a Republican in South Carolina. I chose that moment to soft launch moving up north.
But! That makes me tough and cool.
I think the funniest thing about QG (or one of the funniest, she's very funny) is when she culturally appropriates Catholicism.
She's a WASP, but her chosen group is a bunch of Catholics and she gets things wrong in such a funny way. Her boyfriend's dad died and she had to do that routine, and I tried to coach her as best as I could, but she did the sign of the cross backwards.
Today when we were chatting I occasionally gave a respectful sign of the cross when we brought up important people like the Pope and Jimmy Buffett, she did the same but she does it so awkwardly!
Anyway, I love being a Catholic who can judge and mock a WASP who wants to be one of us. And this isn't shade. I wish I were a WASP, and she wishes she were Catholic. That's why we're friends.
We're both members of a very mean religion/culture.
It's why we drink so much.

The person who tweeted “y’all can’t even boycott Chick-fil-A” was right then and continues to be proven right now
Texting my dad while I'm waiting for QG. He's working again 😆 Guess retirement got boring.
I like big beers 🍻

OK the thunderstorms did not hold off. Still a great day for beer!
Getting a haircut this morning then meeting QGs for bier in the afternoon. I was thinking of rain checking but I'm glad I didn't because it looks like the storms won't start until the evening.
So it's shaping up to be an ideal Saturday. I get to see my hairdresser (we speak in yelling), have social drinks, then hunker down with a book and wine and thunderstorms.
I have kind of a niche political view on tumblr, which is that I think misogyny is bad even when it’s just hurting women
and I don’t even think it needs to have a singular benefit for men for feminism and the abolition of patriarchy to be worthwhile
I was born in the exact right generation I love being an unmarried woman in my twenties with my own bank account and no children
This getting reblogged with “and my thirties” “and my forties” “and my fifties”
*takes the hand of a period drama writer gently* A queen consort is not a queen regnant. A dowager queen is not a queen regnant either.
There is very little intrinsic institutional power in queenship. The power a consort, dowager, or queen mother has depends mostly on how much the reigning sovereign (usually a man) is willing to grant her. Needing a queen to serve as regent is exceptionally rare, and the regent is more often a male relative.
I know this is a bit of a bummer. I'm sorry.
For clarity:
Queen regnant: woman who rules in her own right, not on behalf of someone else.
Regent: Someone who temporarily assumes the powers of the monarch on account of the monarch being too young or too incapacitated to govern.
Queen consort: Woman who is married to the monarch.
Dowager queen: Woman who was married to the monarch. The monarch is dead, and she is owed support as his widow.
Queen mother: Woman who is the mother of the monarch. Usually the dowager queen, though there are exceptions if there isn't a straight line of succession.
The queen is gregnant!?

leftists talk about aipac the way republicans talk about george soros
to all the people in the notes who are like “well, I’M an american and i don’t think this”, a) i’m also american lmfao and b) obviously if you feel the way you do, then this probably doesn’t apply to you but ngl i think this line of thought (or lack of it) is more common amongst Our Fellow Americans than perhaps you’d like to admit (especially based on how many of them voted for trump)
IS THIS POST ABOUT ME SPECIFICALLY?
