why does everyone think Christ is coming now?

1. It's not our place to know so if this is a result of someone prophesizing his return, that person is a false prophet and you absolutely should not listen to them.

2. Just because it feels apocalyptic does not mean the second coming is here. I'm sure during the black plague, during world wars 1 and 2 people thought he was coming.

The fear mongering is worrying, in such scary times we do not need more fear. We need to be reminded only of god's love for all. Pray, care for your neighbor and trust God. That's all you gotta worry about.

Sometimes I think about how arguably one of the major themes in the New Testament is to listen and believe women.

The first act of the New Testament is believing Mary when she explains the virgin birth.

Women were trusted to preach the good news that Jesus rose from the dead.

The woman caught in ‘adultery’ (which some scholars believe was non-consensual) was spared.

The woman at the well is arguably the first person to go out of preach in the name of Jesus.

All this to say: Women are meant to be listened to. They are meant to preach. They are meant to be equal, not subordinate.

One reason I love being Catholic is because we have a Big Book of Rules.

Now hear me out. You might think, gosh, that seems oppressive! A big book of rules you have to follow! But no. See what the Big Book of Rules means is that whenever anyone decides that something completely banal and ordinary is actually Sinful (TM), I can just check the Big Book of Rules. And if it’s not in there then I don’t have to listen to you, actually.

Like, oh, your interpretation of scripture makes you think D&D is sinful? Listening to rock music? Watching anime? Women wearing pants? Well I don’t see anything about that in the Big Book of Rules, so you can fuck right off.

This is something I love about being Catholic. We have our big book of rules, but we also have some freedom when it comes to interpretations. At the end of the day, our core beliefs are listed in the Creed. The big book is a helpful guide to understand and reflect aspects of sin, God, the Trinity and every other aspect of our faith.

I've been devoting more of my time researching saints and part of that includes praying novenas leading up to their feast day.

To build my faith, I am working on doing that for at least one saint a month. I also try to read up on their lives, works, etc. So far, I have done St Kateri Tekakwitha and St Mary Magdalene(my confirmation saint🩷) and now I am starting St Teresa Benedicta of the Cross. Her story is inspiring, and I don't know if I ever would have discovered it had I not started this project

I'd love to see what saints or blesseds you really connect with.

Recently, I've been praying more to God for guidance on my personal mission and purpose with this life.

I converted to Catholicism around 2021 and shortly before my confirmation, I seriously thought my vocation was to become a religious sister. I thought someone like me who was queer had no other option. I loved Jesus and our Lord so much that I knew I would be happy with that life. But God had other plans and I met my girlfriend and now wife shortly before I started reaching out my local sisters for guidance. I knew within a month of dating she was sent to me by God. She has taught me how to forgive and love unconditionally and to become more selfless. She has saved me and many ways and I have saved her.

Even still, I think I am called to do more. With the time I have here in this life, I want to advocate for people like me. People that are LGBTQ+ and are also yearning for God's love and a community that supports them. Every day I strive to dedicate more time to prayer and reflection. Even when the time comes and I am reunited spiritually with our Father in heaven, I want to be there petitioning for grace to be shown to queer individuals everywhere around the world.

setting time aside for God (specific prayer time, bible studies, going to church, etc) is important, yes. it's important to have time where you can completely focus on Him and your relationship with Him.

but a criminally understated way of connecting with God is incorporating Him into your daily life. Not separating Him from it, but including Him in every part.

I might not be able to set aside specific time for prayer on a given day, but I can list things I'm grateful to Him for on the walk to the corner shop. I might not be able to sit and read my Bible that day for whatever reason— I could be in pain, distracted, or just plain busy— but I can say a favorite verse or a quick prayer while doing the dishes.

God is everywhere, and that includes not just being part of your life, but integral to every part of it :)

As someone who was raised Protestant, became Agnostic for several years, and then finally found home in the Catholic church, the Christian calling of forgiveness has confused me for sometime. Recently as I have prayed on it, I have encountered that Christian forgiveness is not excusing hurtful actions, words, and thoughts. Instead, it is acknowledging the hurt they have caused, reflecting on how you can protect yourself/others from being hurt again, and to release it from your heart. Instead of thinking that forgiveness means we accept all kinds of mistreatment, we should focus our attention to letting go of resentment. Resentment only hurts the person holding on to it. As Christians, we do not need to let others steamroll over us, but instead reflect on what we have the power to change and move on. With all things, pray to when to draw attention to and away.

Your daily reminder that Jesus calls us to forgive ourselves as well as others. I know I struggle with forgiving myself for my sins even after going to confession. Remember that you are unconditionally loved and shown mercy by Christ our Lord.
