maybe you dont care about fall out boy featuring a black artist specifically, but why is it that these genres which are dominated by black artists are the ones you dislike. what is it about them that you dont like. dont "i dont know i just dont like them" me, i want you to look at your music taste and really sit with yourself and think about why you like what you like and dont like what you dont like.

because everyone, not just nonblack people, EVERYONE is bombarded with the idea that black art is inferior. that blackness in general is inferior. i have heard people say that they just think rap and hip hop isnt as deep as pop punk, and its really fucking transparent when you have shit like this is america by childish gambino, same drugs by chance the rapper, humble by kendrick lamar, take it back by logic, and you really really expect me to believe that vague lyrical gesturing at the concept of depression is somehow inherently superior to that.

This is know as man fleeting or something, and it happens with poc moving to white suburbs in usa too, but what i want to talk about is how when woman start to get into something, like orchestra, the value of it decreases and everyones salary gets lower

For this week's Off Topic Tuesday: my shameless plug for Tidal.

I've seen posts circulating Tumblr complaining that Spotify has too much of a monopoly on music streaming, and it does! Part of the reason I switched to Tidal was because I do like to avoid supporting businesses I think have too much of a monopoly in favor of supporting "underdogs".

Another reason I switched to Tidal was because Spotify was having too many scandals for my taste in the content they platform (like allowing Andrew Tate's podcasts on how to traffic women, or Joe Rogan's COVID misinformation podcasts).

And also, as the linked article points out, Tidal has higher quality audio, and also pays artists better than Spotify.

The drawback is that Tidal doesn't have quite as much content as Spotify, for example Tidal is mostly music focused and has very few podcasts or audio books. For me this hasn't been an issue though, I just switched to using Pocket Casts for podcasts, and I'm not much of an audio book person in the first place (but I also know there's better alternatives than Spotify for listening to audio books, some are even through your library and support your local library!).

Disability benefits: "I mean, sure, there are probably some sad sacks who are gaming the system, there always are, but hell, with the amount of taxes we pay, the government can afford a few freeloaders, right? I'd rather pay for a couple people who don't really need it than not have the system at all for if I need it, or my kids do, or whatever. I mean shit happens. What if some asshole drunk driver puts me in the hospital and it takes me a year to get back on my feet? Or Heaven forbid something permanent happens. I'll sure be glad that I can get disability then, won't I?"

UBI: "I dunno, the kind of guy who'll just sit on the couch playing Call of Duty all day if he doesn't have to work, I kinda don't want him on my job site anyway. That type is just taking up a place that you could fill with someone who'll actually get the job done, you know? Take a moment and ask yourself, a project like this requires a lot of time, money and dedication of resources, why would scientists dedicate that time to something that could just be done by a tree?

The answer is they wouldn't. So that means this claim requires further investigation!

This project is called LIQUID 3, and it's not meant for cities with wide open spaces, it's meant for cities like Belgrade in Serbia. These cities are densely populated and heavily polluted, to the point where pollution actually chokes out current trees and makes creating green spaces difficult.

Liquid 3 was a PhD scientists answer to these problems. The microalgae tank is intended for spaces where you either:

Don't have enough space to plant full trees, or

Don't have enough time to plant trees and wait for them to grow up.

The tank is extremely efficient when you consider the amount of space needed compared to the amount of CO2 turned into oxygen. The tank can operate throughout the winter. And most importantly, it can be quickly set up in areas that desperately need relief from air pollution NOW not in 10 years when trees are done growing. Children currently suffocating on polluted air can't wait for trees to grow, they need to be taken care of now, and Liquid 3 is one of the ways to take care of them. Depending on the species of microalgea used, a number have shown a pretty amazing capacity to pull heavy metals out of the air which is something trees can get choked up by.

The tanks aren't just tanks either! Liquid 3 have solar panels placed on top, they have lighting and mobile phone charging, and they work as public benches. The designers of it want to encourage green spaces where there's room, but where there isn't room or time, Liquid 3 can step in. Realistically, this isn't a replacement for trees. It's replacing boring metal city benches with new, cooler benches that also clean the air (and have at least some heating during the winter).

Not only that, but the microalgea that grows is native to Serbia and all that microalgea has a ton of great uses! It makes for great fertilizer, compost, wastewater treatment, cleaner biofuels and even for helping create new tanks for further air purification. They only require a quick algae divide once a month, and the produced algae can be carted off to where ever it's needed. This makes them effective solutions for areas that can't sustain complex installations.
