I've got a lot of nostalgia for the 90s, but we still had a long way to go socially speaking. Still do, but we've come a long way since then.
Average from a million frames of Last Week Tonight
John Oliver trying to communicate through my dreams to warn me about the oncoming apocalypse.
my 8 year old has some emotional regulation difficulties, and I've done my best to help him with those.
unrelated, I gave him a shovel a couple of days ago and told him to go have fun in the field because I was tired.
He suddenly seemed happier, having less trouble breathing through disappointment and just being generally all around more cheerful and able to focus in school better. Sure, my partner had to pull him out of a six foot by three foot hole today, but he was stoked about it!
This is a really important moment to teach your kids about excavation safety. Excavation can easily collapse on a person, depending on soil type and size of the hole.
As someone who worked in OSHA, let me tell you that there are very few rescues when it comes to excavation collapses. Usually they are recoveries.
This is what happen when people take the 'your brain doesn't mature till 25' pop-sci too literally and just ran with it, also transphobia

Hello welcome my ADHD themed gameshow, "So you were holding it literally moments ago but now it's gone" the where YOU look for whatever you were just holding while going increasingly mad
I'm just trying to get the mood right
Reblog if you didn't notice the missing words
Everyone is nostalgic and no one is sincere. Do you get the idea
Reboots made by people that don’t respect what they’re rebooting. Punching down before buzz feed listicles punch first. Isn’t it weird that the princess married the prince after just meeting him? Isn’t it cringe that magic exists? Irony poisoning of childhood classics. Well that just happened humour. Say something true and beautiful or I will start throwing rocks
The eclipse was magnificent. We weren't in the totality. It was like 98% and I wish I had taken the time to go see it in full, but it was grand none the less. None of my coworkers were excited to see it. They eventually came to the roof, but even then they were like "Welp ok."
It was cloudy that day. I convinced a coworker to go walk around outside with me. I was hoping a break in the clouds would let us catch a glimpse of the eclipse and it did several times. We got rained on a bit and I thought to myself.
"That's ok. We got to see it half eclipsed. That's wonderful in and of itself."
About thirty seconds before the eclipse peaked the clouds passed into clear skies. Because of the darkening sky, we hadn't seen it coming. For me it was like god himself reached out and granted us a clear sky.
There's no special meaning to an eclipse, but how can you not be awed by the random chance of our existence that we get to see such an event.
mom, dad… i’m…. RANDOM!! LOL XD
The bible said Adam and Eve not Adam and TACO PANCAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!! xDD
Both of these accounts still exist. I hope they see us peering into the corpse of their former selves.
Perhaps the most fascinating thing about the internet is that it both preserves the old memes but also gives older people a glimpse into the evolution of humor between generations.
Despite being in my 30s, I get a lot of Gen Z humor and even a good deal of their slang. When Gen Alpha starts to really have an online presence, we'll have the same chance to see how they take and deviate from Gen Z.
I can't wait to see what they do and I hope it's really funny!
Grief. It’s grief.
I know I tagged my last post grief, but it took me a bit to really realize that I’m still grieving. A Reddit post about celebrities who are assholes from last week tore open the wound that is LostProphets and now I’m crying as I type this out because of all the things that could/should have been. I’ll never get to take my wife to a LostProphets Concert. I’ll never get to be excited for the reboot of Ruruoni Kenshin. And it’s like I’m perpetually waiting to find out which music, or video game, or anime that I love is ruined because the creator has done something awful. It hurts.
It's been a little more than a year since I posted this. I have a kid now and it's one more grief to add to the list.
I love my kid to death and it burns me to think not one, but at least two people willingly offered up their babies to that sick fuck.
And I'll never be able to share the LostProphets music with her. The Start Something album was so full of hope, of fighting against the wrong things in this world, of progress.
And yet here we are. Many of the good things have crumbled.
I can only hope we make the world a little better before she had to take it on.

Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu
Perhaps my favorite running gag between me and my wife is that anytime we spot merch or a reference to Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu from My Hero Academia, we make a really big deal about it. We were in Box Lunch this past weekend and they had a statue of Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu and my wife pointed it out. Her: Oh my god, is that Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu? Me: Wait, do you mean Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu? Her: Yes, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu. Me: Like Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu? Her: Yes, Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu! Me: You're right! It is a Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu figurine! Her: I can't believe there is a Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu figurine here! Me: What a great Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu figurine! Her: I also love the Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu figurine!

The core appeal of Willy Wonka is that he's a nigh-omnipotent maniac who uses his near limitless powers over reality to trick shitty people into killing themselves. You can't make him the protagonist of a whimsical coming of age tale - you have to treat him like Jason Voorhees, or Dracula, or any other horror icon. Give him some new victims and new interesting kills and set him loose, that's all audiences want.
I feel like I watched a somewhat different movie...
Willy Wonka is the polar opposite of Saw.
Instead of capturing people and putting them through challenges that will result in their death if they don't succeed, he freely invited people to this wonderland. He gave, at times, half-hearted warnings to each child as their own greed and gluttony brought them into perilous situations.
Instead of taking steps to stop them, he allowed them to fall prey to the many potential dangers of his factory.
I almost think Wonka began to change the moment Augustus contaminated the river of chocolate. Slowly becoming more gleeful as each child broke his rules and suffered as a result.
Charlie alone (along with Grandpa Joe) managed to survive the trap Wonka set out for him. Charlie alone showed contrition for his actions. Charlie alone avoided the final trap that Wonka set before the even began.
Perhaps more importantly, what kind of catastrophe would be triggered by the three coastal states disappearing and the ocean flooding into those areas.
Like, I get this is a bullshit conservative political tweet, but in reality the consequences would be so much more vast than merely famine or loss of the tech industry. Entire ecosystems would be created and destroyed.

Tangentially related, it's wild how many companies tried to let me wander their shop unaccompanied when I was a OSHA Compliance Officer.
Like, I have a specific purpose for my visit. If I have to wander the facility to find what I'm supposed to look at, you deserve any extra citations I find.
GO OFF KING !!!
