completely personal preference obviously but i hate when there's a time travel fix-it and everything goes smoothly and the protagonist is just cool and confident with all their knowledge of the ruined future. nooo shut up. what is even the point if they're not an emotionally traumatized mess frantically trying to fix things and fucking up as they do so, keeping secrets and alienating their loved ones, causing new and interesting problems and barely scraping through to an eventual better ending

personally my favorite is when the time travel actually ends up irrevocably making things worse.

honestly? Given the way he's been handled in pretty much every X-Men adaption to date, and given how X97 seems to just rush through plotlines and development, to say nothing of how Magneto was handled.... Yeah I'd be fine with that.

Actually he was part of the main trio in the animated series Spider-man and His Amazing Friends. One of the better adaptations with him in it. He tells jokes and puns and while he still gets treated a little less respectively it really could be worse.

I don't think Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends counts as an X-Men animated series- while Bobby himself is a lead, the overarching focus of the show is Spider-Man and his shenanigans. The X-Men briefly appear only in one episode and that episode is mostly about Firestar.

Yeah, I think most of us in this reblog chain had been primarily considering how shallow most of his adaptations are. I do think the cartoon is part of it, but that goes back to what actually got popular in the comics, and Iceman, although he's appeared quite a lot, is just not a draw the way a lot of the other X-Men are, so he usually gets pushed into side roles as comic relief. I do think homophobia is something of an element, but that only goes back the last ten years or so since his being gay has been canonized- his being pushed aside in X-Men adaptations has been a problem for as long as there have been adaptations, and his being pulled from the core team by Claremont is another major factor, imho.

I have no plans to see doomsday for many, many reasons *but* I would be lying if I said I didn't want to see Iceman absolutely slaughter Pyro as reparations for how Johnny Storm got slandered in Deadpool and Wolverine (and for how Iceman got slandered in Days of Future Past)

one of the worst parts of being a duke fan, I feel, is duke being created in the 2010s rather than the 90s or late 2000s when the bats were doing their peak toxic found family-isms so now when duke gets his rare interactions w the rest of the batfam it's all therapyspeak and healthy and shit bcs he missed out on all the toxic codependency and resentment 😓

Honestly, I'm not even going to bother joking about Doomsday. Desperately grasping for nostalgia while fundamentally betraying everything you loved about what came before is the entire point of cape comics, it's only natural that the movies would get there too.

I live in fear of the day that they put out a Marvel Zombies miniseries that's so dogshit that they pull the plug on letting anyone make any more

They've had some real stinkers in the past, I think as long as the Marvel Zombies brand sells well enough, it can survive a couple bad series.

Genuinely the narrative of Shilo Norman infuriates me because what do you mean Jack Kirby created a Black boy to be Scott's successor as Mister Miracle and his first appearance includes Scott & Barda taking him in, Scott saying "I see me" when he looks at Shilo while Barda implying she sees Auralie and them both promising not to fail him. And the tagline of this issue is Shilo "is soon to change the destiny and give new purpose to the life of Mister Miracle" btw!! What do you mean when the series ends Scott & Barda leave Earth and Shilo ALONE and then when they come back he's in COLLEGE!!! But then when Barda & Scott look at Shilo flying around as Mister Miracle they embrace each other and Scott LITERALLY SAYS it makes him feel like a proud father and Barda echoes the sentiment. And DON'T FORGET that the themes of Fourth World in general revolve around biological vs. chosen families and the ability to choose good despite/in spite of your parentage. ALL THIS just so each new ScottBarda writer can make another biological White baby while most people don't even know Shilo exists I'LL RUN DC COMICS OVER WITH MY CAR
