One of my favourite parts about writing is world building but I don’t have the energy to properly write so here’s some Gotham world building
I don’t know how many times I’ve said this, but Gotham has dietary options in all restaurants, vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, whatever, they’re saints regarding cross contamination and it’s all Damian’s fault because he could find all of two places with good vegan options and he was going crazy
The graffiti scene is Gotham is insane, all the abandoned buildings make great canvases and most of it is amazing art, there’s a lot of the bats and a lot of memorial art
Public transport is objectively awful in the city because of all the villain attacks fucking up the subway, busses tend to run as normal but they’re still not great
Free shit! Funded by Bruce, but free shit! A lot of things are paid for by Bruce and because this man is actively trying to get rid of his money, he’s happy to give away free things, food, healthcare, cars, clothes, childcare anything, over the years it’s been what’s lowered the crime rate the most so he will fund it until the day he stays dead
Jason has a few drug clinics, not a lot because he doesn’t have nearly as much money as Bruce, but he has them, technically speaking they’re illegal as fuck because they’re giving out free, monitored, pure heroin, but they help with therapy and education and helping people get better so the cops ignore it
Speaking about the cops, there still insanely corrupt, commissioner Gordon is the singular thing stopping the whole police force from taking bribes, he’s managed to keep it below 50% but it’s still ridiculous
There is insurance for villain related shit, however, a lot of the time it’s not great (“you have insurance against fear gas, not laughing gas there’s nothing we can do, just stay in a hotel while it clears from your apartment”) so the bats just deal with it themselves
Drive in cinemas. They have big buildings in that bitch ass white and people just point projectors at them, more than once have the bats abandoned patrol to watch movies
Public libraries !! Jason Cass and duke cannot exist in a city without libraries, they have libraries and they’re free and great
Fortunately, gotham is a walkable city, and ! Sitable, it didn’t used to be but after they bats (duke and Jason) ripped out all the hostile architecture it became very sitable
