I kept mistaking fanart of Jayce for fanart of Gale and vice versa, and I was struck by the sudden realization that on top of looking kind of similar as shown above, they are also incredibly similar personality and life experience wise as well. They're both smart but occasionally a tad naive, funny, have total golden retriever energy(*cough* submissive *cough*), a bit egotistical with some underlying self esteem issues and suicidal tendencies, they were both obsessed with magic from a young age and became revolutionary prodigies in their fields, have very sweet and loving mothers that they adore deeply, with their fathers not really being in the picture, have an old and widened mentor that they look up to(Elminster/Heimerdinger) who ends up being kind of a complicit semi catalyst for a lot of the tragedy they go through, fell in love with a woman who was the embodiment of magic whose names also coincidentally both start with M, Mel being more metaphorical and Mystra being quite literal(though we stan queen Mel in this house, Mystra can go rot in the hells, all my homies hate Mystra), for Bloodweave and Jayvik shippers, they also fell in love with a sassy man who is the embodiment of black cat energy and has some flavor of bodily autonomy trauma(and they look kinda similar too, especially when Viktor has the white hair in the arcane dimension), and they both end up fighting a world ending apocalyptic level threat with a hivemind army that they are tangentially connected to in some way, Gale with the Netherese orb and its connection to Karsus's crown atop the elder brain, and Jayce and the creation of hextech snowballing/domino effecting into the creation of the Machine Herald(plus the Machine Herald having formerly been his lab partner). I'm sure there's probably more, but that's all I can think of right now.
