Made the mistake of bringing up that needing glasses is a disability on tiktok and people got real mad.
“You can fix it with glasses” yeah, cuz they’re a disability aid? But like, I still have to pay 160 bucks to use my own fucking eyes?
Like, by definition, if your eyes do not work without aid, you have a disability to see.
Having a disability doesn’t automatically put you in what people consider the “disabled” category, but that doesn’t change the fact that it is in fact, a disability.

There should be a fanfic writing game called the showrunners challenge where someone writes a story and partway through someone else can play things like "actor leaves after 4000 more words" or "topic now too politically sensitive due to unforeseen world events" or "lost rights to that reference"

Showrunner's Challenge By Runawaymarbles (also sorta by sprintingowl)
Begin writing a fanfic. It is a feature length television program being watched every week by thousands. There is no plan. The industry is in shambles. The writer's room is barely hanging on.
At the end of each chapter, roll a d12.
1 Everything at once. Roll twice, use both. If you get this again, keep rolling. Your only way out is to stop getting 1s. 2 Product placement! The next chapter must center (and subtly promote the features of) a product belonging to the most recent brand you've seen. 3 Fan favorite. Your most recently mentioned character (or named object) is now beloved by the audience. You must give it a bigger part in the story, a special destiny, or an important new romance or friendship. If you get this twice for the same character or object, the adoration cools and you must go back to treating the character or object normally. 4 Executive meddling. You must change to a different genre. You cannot go back to a genre until you have changed genres three times since then. 5 Audiences are craving more coziness. The next chapter must be completely low stakes and set you at ease. 6 Audiences are craving more suspense. The next chapter must take place entirely in a single location, ideally just a single room, and build tension with every exchange of dialog. 7 Audiences are craving more action. The next chapter needs to involve at least one extended fight scene, and the weapons must be the last three objects mentioned. 8 Audiences are craving more romance. The next chapter needs to involve a deep, sappy confession of either love or admiration between two characters that have not previously been romantically involved. 9 Go to the most recent line in your fic that references a brand. Due to ongoing legal action, that brand cannot be mentioned again, but you score 1 audience point every time you allude to it in a way that paints it in a negative light. 10 The two most recently mentioned characters' actors have, IRL, gone through a VERY messy divorce or friend breakup. You cannot put them in the same scene, but they must both remain relevant parts of the show. If you get this with the same two characters again, they reconcile. 11 The most recent negative event (stabbing, poisoning, banishment to jupiter) is now the center of a very real IRL news story. You must immediately pivot away from all plotlines involving it and, if possible, also find away to apologize for even thinking to include it without breaking character. 12 The most recently mentioned character's actor has decided to leave the show. You must write them out in the next chapter. If you are brave, also roll a d12. 1--6, they were well loved and their sendoff must be as flowery as possible. 7--12, they were despised by the cast and crew. Mulch them.
You win if you can complete the fic in a state of relative coherency.

how the person usually isn't as directly lit as Edwin here, but from a side?
and how, when Charles looks at Edwin with the slightest smile and utter conviction in his eyes, Edwin is completely bathed in blue?
and. how Edwin, dead on a technical error, never got to see where his soul really belonged when it comes to his afterlife— and yet it's doubtless, from this shot alone, what his original destination would be.
Maybe the blue light wasn't there for Charles in the first place. Maybe his unfinished business of watching over his mother would've kept him there anyways. Maybe Death finally did come for Edwin to bring him to Heaven, but he had already gone and found one on his own.

Wild theory, but lemme cook: the 'hell' in Dead Boy Detectives has the same structure as Dante's Inferno, and according to the inferno, people guilty of betrayal are condemned to spending eternity in a frozen lake. Which sounds a lot like how we see Niko at the end of the show...
Also- Kingham and Litty are with her, but they weren't with her when she died. SO, my theory is that because they couldn't find another host, they were still tethered to Niko to some degree. Meaning that their continuous betraying of hosts to their deaths became associated with her when she died.
I know it's obvious she'd be back for season 2 (manifesting 🤞✨), but I feel like the betrayal circle works pretty well with the sprites, which was otherwise a bit confusing. And seeing as Niko wasn't guilty herself, I'd bet that she would be able to at the very least cause another 'pending' afterlife allocation and buy time to work it all out (with the others 🤞✨🤞✨)
I thought there was something to hell abt people only being there until they forgive themselves of what they thought was their sin? Like Simon? But if that's true what if niko's under the impression she betrayed her mother by going no contact for so long, or thinks she betrayed her father's memory in some way ?
Can we talk about how Edwin must have tried YEARS, even DECADES to escape hell and still the first time he meets Simon wasn't during his 70 years there but only when he got back? It shows even more how umbelievably large and labyrinthine this place was for him to not have even tried all the ways out...
God, the suffering of this man ("man? I'm a boy") is unbelievable

thinking about how significant it is to earn a cat's trust. thinking about how you can't really trap a cat if you want it to not absolutely despise you. thinking about how you need to give the cat time to get used to your presence, to reach your hand out in kindness and patience and let the cat choose to come back to the place you have made safe for them, whether they know it yet or not. thinking about how the Cat King did the one thing he really shouldn't've done if he wanted Edwin to trust him, in a desperate ploy to keep him close. thinking about how Edwin really could have been a potential friend, if not more, if the Cat King hadn't've trapped him in one place. a fun time, or a what-could've-been, or maybe, years from now, something more? thinking about how the Cat King let his fascination and duty of protecting his own take the front seat, which was fair, but did not expect it to have consequences for himself to face, which was entirely a trap he set for himself. thinking about the process of caring about someone. caring so much that you will spend the entire night searching a forest, which you hate, just to save him from the crow that's been flirting with him, too. (and being honest with yourself, you know that's less caring about him and more making sure the crow doesn't steal his interest). but not caring enough to die for him twice. (which was fair).

We all remember how Edwin barely reacted to touching the iron bar in order to get the little girl's shoes in one of the earlier episodes, right
So imagine that when some villain attacks them with e g. an iron crowbar and hurts Charles, Edwin snaps, and when they swing on Edwin, he just grabs the crowbar with his bare hand and completely ignores the pain
He's had worse, way worse
The shock of it makes the villain drop the weapon, and Edwin quickly uses his chance to overpower them with a spell
Meanwhile Charles needs a longer moment to come back online, because wow that was hot
Someone somewhere noted how Edwin was pulling his arm through the mirror to the point of Charles telling him to stop before he rips his arm off... something something pain tolerance and decades of seeing/feeling himself being ripped apart desensitized him to it?
Headcanon that Edwin is so against learning actual physical fighting cuz he's spent time in the Violence level of Hell and his automatic first instinct in any physical altercation is to do The Most Damage to the Threat No Matter What and he doesn't like it
