tips for making a battle vest:
- have a consistent colour pallate. if thats rainbow, thats okay!! my vest personally sticks to brown, white, black, and green
- trinkets sewn on are your friend. buttons, keys, washers, any fun things you find and want to add
- add pockets! side pockets, secret inner pockets, all the pockets
- you dont have to make your own patches. there are many small shops on sites like etsy that sell banger patches
- if youre adding safety pins, make sure to crimp the ends shut with pliers so they dont come undone
- think about what you want to do in the vest! for example, if you love mosh pits, avoid spikey metal bits or anything that could injure someone in the pit
- make sure the patches on it reflect you. this isnt to say dont add fun design patches, it doesnt just need to be politics and bands, but dont add anything you dont stand for
- pop tabs are your friends for attaching things to the vest. i have a row of pop tabs on the back that my bum flap hooks on to, and more at the front for a small bag
-patches of things other than text is always good. too much text and you become a walking book [though if thats your intention, go for it!]
- most importantly, your vest should be a reflection of you. if it isnt making you happy to wear, consider why and if it can be changed!!
