the new movie really expanded further on aangs loss and grief and I am so here for it !!! the animated series doesnt really delve into it much and with the main quest of the story taking precedence in the plot, that eventually overshadows it and that sad fact is pushed to the side. aang becomes just the avatar to us and we watch his journey as he learns to be it.
but with this new movie, we the viewers are reminded once again of who aang is first once more, an airbender and the last one at that. the movie opening up with his memories of his time at the temple and the happiness he felt then especially encapsulates this. that is what aang yearns for most of all. to return to a time where he wasn’t just the last, where the sky filled with bison and he could glide through the sky as free as the breeze.
his grief is so large. i wonder how scary it must feel, for him to know at the young age of just twelve that he will forever be burdened with carrying the last vestiges of his culture and people. that no matter how much he wants to, there will just never be enough time to say it all, to scavenge his memories as vague as they now become over the years and tell them all he knows. the gaang are now his family yes, but he quietly mourns the one he lost long ago and wonders wether if he had stayed back that maybe they would still be here.
I completely understand, as sad as it is, why he favoured tenzin more than his other children. this was the first airbender he’s seen in years after him, someone he could impress all of his memories onto, teach him of the airbending ways just how monk gyatso did for him. I wonder if he held tenzin and knew, as if it were something intrinsic to him, that yes, his culture wouldn’t die with him after all and lets out the sigh he’s been holding in for so, so long.

HOUSE RULES⠀─── ⠀Your daughter's friend always heard from her that her parents are disgustingly in love. She doubts it after watching you and Sukuna interacting.
The girl had heard many stories about her friend’s parents.
“You don’t understand,” she had said more than a million times, “my parents are, like, disgustingly in love. It’s embarrassing.”
She had expected something cringey. Kisses in the kitchen. Maybe matching mugs. Some middle-aged couple nonsense. Something wholesome, like in one of those old movies.
She hadn’t expected… this.
She stood awkwardly near the front door, her hands gripping the straps of her backpack. She felt slightly suffocated, as if the walls had eyes and all of them were staring at her.
A deep voice echoed through the house and she swallowed hard, glancing toward the kitchen, where her friend was calmly chewing her toast as if it were just another normal day.
“Are you blind?” Ryomen cleared his throat, one hand on his hip and the other lifting a small yogurt bottle to his mouth, his eyes fixed on his wife. “That’s not how you cut them.”
“Oh, I’m sorry.” For a moment, the girl thought you were actually apologizing, but judging by the way you stabbed the poor fruit with the knife, it was easy to predict what would come next. “Next time I’ll ask for permission from the master chef before touching a knife.”
He smiled, but it wasn’t a kind smile. It was the kind that showed too many teeth. Almost mocking.
“You really should,” he replied, taking another sip of yogurt as if he were completely relaxed, as if his wife didn’t have her hand dangerously close to a knife. “Because clearly you lack the motor coordination.”
You slowly turned your body, leaning your hip against the counter and crossing your arms, your lips parting to retort. “It’s just a fruit.”
“Presentation matters.” He shrugged.
“Then cut it yourself.”
He tilted his head slightly. “Are you admitting your incompetence?”
“I’m offering you an opportunity, coward.”
“Right—“ Sukuna’s gaze shifted, his eyes landing on the visitor near the door. “Who’s that.” His expression was terrifying to the poor girl.
“My friend, dad.” The teenager took one last sip of coffee and stood up. “She’s walking to school with me.”
“You brought someone into my house without asking for my permission first?” Sukuna placed the yogurt bottle on the counter and crossed his arms.
“That ‘someone’ is her friend,” you interrupted. “And the house is ours. I allowed it. Stop making a scene.” Your voice lowered slightly, as if trying to spare the poor girl from feeling even more embarrassed and intimidated.
“But she didn’t ask permission—”
“I asked mom. She’s the one who decides, anyway,” your daughter said, placing her plate in the sink and grabbing her backpack from the chair.
He let out a low “hm” through his nose.
“Of course,” he murmured, uncrossing his arms only to rest his hands on the counter behind him, leaning his weight back with an almost irritating calmness. “You hide behind your mother’s authority.”
“Sure, sure,” the teenager rolled her eyes, already pulling her friend by the arm toward the door.
“Sweetheart,” you said, your voice softer than anything you had used in the past few minutes. “Aren’t you going to be late? Your father can give you two a ride.”
“I don’t—”
“We’re fine! Thank you so much!” the friend answered far too quickly, dragging your daughter outside.
Ryomen’s gaze returned to you. “Did you see her behavior? In my time, children who challenged their parents learned—”
“You’re too talkative today,” you replied. “And don’t complain, you’re the one who spoiled her.”
He scoffed, leaning over and hugging you from behind.
As the two girls walked side by side, the friend cleared her throat.
“Are they… okay?”
“They’re like that,” she replied. “Gross, right? Imagine listening to that flirting every single day.”

the smell of metal clings to him—the evidence of blood stains his hands, a few drops stain his porcelain skill. he could pass off as a model—a doll, if he weren’t so rotten inside.
you can only stare at what seems to be satoru gojo infront of you. a monster wears his face, has taken the real man from you and worn his skin like old clothes that fit perfectly.
he’s done—said, horrible things. taken things he can never give back. his heart is as black as his sunglasses, wretched and rotten.
satoru gojo is forbidden fruit you have been told not to touch. but desire still whispered in ear.
what came out of being obedient? some would argue that Adam and Eve’s greatest act was not when they began the human race but when they ate from the tree and barred their offspring from Eden.
satoru gojo is original sin—the fruit you must not eat, the hand you must not hold, the face you must not caress. he is all you want but can not have, should not have. he is the ache between your ribs, the heat between your legs and the breath that escapes your lips.
your mother tells you to stay away. a blight that boy is, everything he touches dies.
your father says he is a curse, look at his friend and then look at him, he’s going to ruin our my poor girl!
all the warnings fall from your mind like petals.
you nudge the door open wider, allowing him entry into your home. he doesn’t need to ask. you’re foolishly in-love with him that’s why.
and even when his face and hands are scrubbed clean and his hair smells faintly of your lavender shampoo, his fingers inching towards you from across the bed. you can’t say no.
you never say no.
not when his lips press against yours, selfish and wanting and leave ruin in its ache. not when the hot slide of his tongue breaches your mouth and his hands wanders across your skin, tainting everywhere he touches with his blight.
you’re sleeping with the devil, you know, everyone knows. but they don’t know you let him in every time.
“your sister is a menace, she never shuts her mouth.” he grumbles, collapsing onto the couch in your office. the light outside had faded into the rosy pink that meant dusk. in this specific lighting, his hair looks more sakura than it does in the day.
“yes, but she never lies. what did she say?” your pen falls to a halt mid sentence. your sister was a brusque women but she never lied. she simply “spoke the truth many did not want to hear,” and while you could try and say you disliked it, you valued the honesty she gave.
maybe not so much now atleast.
sukuna has a blank look on his face, the only telltale sign of emotion being the slightly prominent vein in the side of his neck that pulsed very faintly with every beat of his heart. you can deduce that whatever your sister had said had angered him greatly. (or was it annoyance that you read from him?)
“she said I should leave before I break your heart.”
you cock your head to the side, eyes squinting at the man to the side of you. your eyes trail his face leeringly, following the black marks branded on his skin. you follow it down, down, down until it disappears past the collar of his clothes.
back when you first met him, he had been the paragon of evil in your world. the man who all feared and revered at the same time. the man who was rumoured to eat the flesh of his captives. the man who had torn his heart out for the sake of power. the king of curses.
and now he sat here, in your home, in your council advising you and he had never looked further from that man than he did now. he has become tame ever since arriving in the capital but you know, you know the tempest brewing beneath his false skin. the thirst for blood that had not left him—only been pushed aside.
“and should i?”
his gaze flickers to you, crimson oculi beneath his lashes. his mouth is slanted in a smile (or what you think it is), pearly white canines peak from behind his rose lips. was there anything more wicked than it? the mouth that had been attached to yours but a few hours ago. his mouth that had once been periodically stained with the ichor of curses—been dotted with bruises from your own.
what a wretched thing he was, you think, as you rise from your seat.
“you know the answer to that already.”
and there it is. the stark truth that was the film of desire, disgust and admiration that lay between the two of you. there is no doubt he will bring about your downfall, that was a thought you had long accepted, one thing you didn’t need your sister telling you. the hunger in him is still calling, you can see, and soon it will swallow you whole.
but all you can think when you lower yourself into the steel bands of his arms, when his woeful mouth latches onto your neck like a ravenous beast is that you’ll bring about his own destruction too.
