i know most leftists agree that everybody should have a right to food, water, shelter, and healthcare but i think a vitally important fifth pillar is privacy. people should not be compelled to be tracked, monitored, or to share personal space with others to access their other essential rights

I think that part of what irks me about AI being used even for "small" stuff like meme graphics (aside from all the larger problems obviously) is like.... the time spent on it was part of the humor. "this is a silly inconsequential joke but I had to stop everything and spend 5 minutes making it" was, at least for me, part of the joke. Someone really took time out of their day to make me look at something silly they took time out of their day to make. Now it's like someone took time out of my day to make me look at something no one even made. Stop wasting my time if you aren't wasting yours too.

I’ve never seen a saddle like this, and preliminary searches turn up an old carriage/automobile manufacture for the makers mark. Gonna have hunt down an old saddle subreddit or something to get more info lol

I did end up asking in a fb group and they were very helpful! I suspect it’s a military calvary saddle, circa WWI. There’s some other marks/stamps on it which may imply it belonged to someone in the 77th battalion, though from where is still unclear. I’m in canada, and the 77th here was infantry as far i i’ve seen, so not sure if they had mounts. But it went almost immediately to Europe, and disbanded/merged with other battalions shortly thereafter. I’m gonna try reaching out to some military history museums and see if i can’t find out more. I’d love to try restoring it.

And! We need cashiers. And convenience stores. And I think it's kind of broken that society says people who want to do stuff like that have "low" ambition (not you OP, I get you're using it illustratively because that's what society labels said jobs) and don't deserve to live at the same standard as people with "high" ambitions.
If we need someone to do a job, that job is a role in the community and deserves not just a salary but cultural respect for the role.
"high" ambition jobs are all jobs that involve domineering and controlling others. "low" ambition jobs are all jobs that involve service to others. Have you noticed? Because I have noticed.
But serving others is actually more needed than controlling them.
