You do realise plants are living too, right? They breathe, grow, react to sunlight and even music. Humans are killers whether it’s animals and plants or just plants: it is how we were designed.

Also, if someday sentience in plants was shown—the only few studies claiming to do so right now have been unrepeatable and considered faulty—veganism would still be the path of least harm. More plant life is needed for an animal-based diet than a plant-based diet because the nonhuman animals exploited for human food need to eat before they're killed. In fact, more pounds of plant life is fed to these animals while they're alive than the pounds of "meat" taken from them when they're killed. Which is why veganism is also a movement to eradicate global hunger and food shortages.

Additionally?  Even painted dogs, whose hunts have a 90% rate of successful kills, have to teach their puppies how to dog.  Because that’s how mammals work.
