So, I was just watching a video from EpicNate about Fallout 4. And it got my mind going. Ok so, we know that father released the Sole Survivor "to see what would happen." I used to not subscribe to the 'Sole Survivor is a synth' theory, but here's the deal. Now I think they might be, and the perk that made me change my mind was the water boy/girl perk, among others like it, humans don't breath water... but a Synth might. (But I also think it's probably supposed to be left up the the player as to what they want to roleplay.) But anyway, so this being the case, yeah Sole is a synth, I remember EpicNate making a video and mentioning there's a cut random encounter where you can meet someone wandering the wasteland who looks exactly like Sole, but older... and that makes sense, because the "see what would happen" wouldn't be a one off experiment, it would be ongoing, it would need several instances to make a real experiment. And this, the players Sole Survivor, is the first and only one to actually make it back to the institute. So why wouldn't other 'Sole Survivors' find a way in? Maybe it was resources and community. Nick, Piper, Preston, Sturges, the BoS the Railroad. All these people who's efforts and contributions lead to there being anything but a dead end. But most importantly; Kellogg and Virgil. Without them, there's no way in. These two played key roles in the survivor having any knowledge of how the institute even operates. but also, the Kellogg and Virgil elements could have been an act put on for every instance of the test, Kellogg posting up in Diamond City with Synth Shaun, Virgil waiting in the cave to convey the pivotal information. But I don't think so, I think that while Kellogg was obviously staged. Virgil's escape was an unexpected emergency that changed the plans.

as it turns out, i am a petty bitch even in games
i created a Museum of the Minutemen in Sanctuary, and there is a room dedicated to the dearly departed Conrad "Connie" Kellogg.
i'm not sorry.
you should see the Shaun exhibit. as a clue about my feelings for *that* self-satisfied little asshat, i named one of my guns "260-year late term abortion".
