The biggest problem with every single bad review of Captain Marvel coming from a man is that none of them seem to comprehend a narrative that isnāt meant for them.
They see Carol finally breaking free from being gaslighted by the Kree as āemotionally underwhelming,ā never realizing that a climactic, emotional showdown with her abuser would be giving him exactly what he wants. Being in control of her emotions? Choosing not to react to a provocation? Thatās strength most male comic fans donāt understand. They see masculine-coded strength as the only valid kind. Carol not being angry and putting Yon-Rogg down in a shonen-esque battle doesnāt make sense to them because itās not what they would have done.
They see a woman struggling to work through lies sheād been told as ābad narrative structure,ā when in reality the movie was never about building Carol up from nothing, but about her realizing her true potential through seeing past those lies. Carolās character arc parallels many women attaining social consciousness, throwing off patriarchal lies theyād been conditioned to accept about who they are and what they can do. Her story isnāt about attaining power, but about embracing her true potential that had been deliberately hidden from her.
They see Carolās emotions not lining up with the lies her abusers told her about being too emotional as ābad writingā or ābad acting,ā never realizing that that was exactly the point. They only understand defiance as impassioned, outward battles of will and pride, not understanding that quiet, steadfast refusal to bend to othersā designs of who you should be is strength too.
Brie Larson was absolutely right. Carolās story is not for men. And nothing proves that more than all the fanboys who didnāt understand it throwing fits on the internet.
Her story isnāt about attaining power, but about embracing her true potential that had been deliberately hidden from her.

why does this have 32k notes? itās just a picture of a knife in a ranch bottle, is there some unspoken joke that 32 thousand people share? what is going on here, i dont get it. itās just a fucking picture of a knife in a ranch bottle. is there some spiritual connection people have to this picture? is there some ominous and mystical reasoning that this has 32 thousand notes? do people reblog this because it makes them look like some indie blogger? or is there just something funny to this? someone please explain
no one tell him
Scheduling this to post on March 15 because it needs to happen.
The ides of March have come

So I usually upload all of my vids directly to Tumblr, but for this one it was literally impossible. Itās too big. I made a Star Wars vid using footage from every single movie and itās 6 minutes long and over 400MB. So here it is on Youtube.
Not gonna lie, I put a lot of effort into this thing and I really hope you all will like it! If youāve liked any of my other stuff, or if you just like Star Wars, you should check it out. I think it turned out pretty good.
This is an absolutely glorious big bang of a vid that draws gorgeous parallels through all of the Star Wars movies. So worth your time.
(The embed didnāt work for me, so hereās the direct link to youtube just in case.)
Maisie Williams and Sophie Turner playing āSnog, Marry, Kill.ā (x)
Captain Marvel: So then he was allĀ āI told you- youāre never going to be able to control yourself until you can put me on the floor without using your powersā-
Captain America: So you turned them off and kicked his ass anyway?
Captain Marvel: No lol what the fuck Iām not a dumbass, I just shot him. Who the fuck would listen to a villain trying to do his best to win a fight?
Captain America, sweating, remembering the fight with Batroc in which he stowed away his shield and dropped his helmet bc Batroc Asked Him To: Hah lol ikrā¦.. whoād do thatā¦idiotsā¦
In the greater scheme or the big picture nothing we do matters. Thereās no grand plan, no big win.

In this house we respect Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, and Daenerys Targaryen. And we never pit any of them against each other.Ā
canāt get people to leave you alone? tell them youāre too busy weaving a burial shroud
This actually sounds like a solid idea for warding off creeps
āA shroud? Whoever for?ā
āFor the next fuckboy that wonāt take no for an answer.ā
Gemma Chan and her snacks dresses with pockets are the best
My first thought when I saw that dress was that it's a good thing that Gemma Chan is so beautiful because that dress is CRAZY. But now I understand everything -- once she'd tried that dress how could she possibly have chosen anything else? It has room for rice cakes and cookies!
āI, King of Flesh, flourishing in my flowers. Come in. I am sensible, sober, and have no designs on your virtue. āĀ
HOW WOULD YOU EVEN PREDICT THIS
Find a way to reschedule your grandparents death.
This is when I take it to their boss and make it their problem. Professors do have people who oversee them and if you feel like youāre being treated unfairly you should report them.
FYI in case you donāt know, the first eye would be the department chair (not actually the boss, but in charge of curriculum! Which that syllabus sure is). Then, the Dean of that school in which that department falls (eg Dean of the School of Business). When you google ā[professor name] [college/univ name]ā you should be able to find the beginning of that whole chain of info.
The university ombudsmanās office would be a useful general place to start too, if youāre not sure or donāt trust the department head.
I had a professor say, in his first class, that he didnāt really believe in giving As .
I walked out of his class and dropped it. I was on academic scholarship and *literally* could not afford this.
So on the one hand, this looks pretty harsh. On the other, the paragraph just below the highlighted section gives every student the ability to skip one exam and one assignment. So if you are ill, or need to go to a funeral, or whatever, and that day is the day of one of the exams, you don't need to worry. Your lowest mark doesn't count toward your final grade.

I love how it is all polite history and then that post script
One of the criticisms Iāve seen of the 300th episode is that the John we saw last night is not the same John weāve seen in the past. I beg to differ. The John we saw in season 1 was tough, but he was proud of his sons. He loved them. He wasnāt a perfect father - he certainly made mistakes, but as Sam said he did his best. Maybe John was more emotional last night than we normally saw him in season one, but why wouldnāt he be? The woman he loved was back from the dead, the monster that killed her was gone, and his sons were alive (and not evil). I feel sure John that expected Sam and Dean to die young and stay dead since hunting as a career doesnāt offer a long life expectancy. He also found out that his own dad didnāt abandon him, though I doubt that had much impact.
People have said they didnāt think he was capable of apologizing for the mistakes he made raising his sons, but he already apologized to Dean in season one. Just because fanon says that John was a hard-nosed emotionless abusive bastard doesnāt mean he actually was one.
THIS.
LITERALLY the two first scenes we saw of him after Maryās death were
John in Lawrence looking sadly on his wedding band, saying how much he wants to see Sam and Dean
John seeing both of his sons for the first time in a while with tears in his eyes and a smile on his face.
Iām sorry to the haters, but John may have messed up a lot of times, but he also saved his sons by training them in the life. He knew something was up with Sam and didnāt burden Dean with it until he realized he couldnāt do anything about it.
Why didnāt he entrust some other hunter?
Another hunter wouldnāt have given Sam the chance Dean would undoubtedly always give Sam. So yeah, it was messed up, but you know what? He did do his best. And some may say his best is not good enough, but *shrugs* His best made sure his kids were alive. His best made sure that Dean wanted nothing more than to save Sam. His best made sure both of his boys were strong, capable and heroes.
So Iām sorry you donāt see it, but in my house we appreciate a father who tries his best, even though he messes up too.
But he was the first person in the show who managed to overcome a possession - all because of Dean.
Also John was aware in enough to know what his kids wantĀ āI want you to go to school; I want Dean to have a homeā. This plus later when they find his place with his stuff stashed somewhere, and they find some of their own stuff that John seemed to have saved.
John is one of the most fascinating characters on the show to me. Because he did so much wrong and he did so much right. He can be such a horrible father and such a good father. He can be such a tough commander and such a caring person. Heās neither all loveable golden hero nor mean, cold bastard. Heās an interesting personality with extreme good and extreme bad sides. I love that!
He wasnāt a perfect father and Iām sure most of us got pissed off one time or another at him, but John was a good man.
He loved his sons to death and his moral compass was actually pretty strong. He was hell bent on revenge but he also took on the task of saving lives, letās not forget heās been doing that for a long time, he was in the army.
And if people want to criticize John, letās remember that heās as bad as Sam and Dean get when someone hurts the other and remember that John lost his soulmate to an unknown monster, had to worry about his younger son being akin to the devil and raise both kids. And you know what, he raised them to be imperfect but good men and heroes.
