There's another post on here where this woman talks about dating a rich guy and she was like "oh you can't drink alcohol on a public sidewalk here" and he was like "Sure you can -- it's $500." Like he'd done it often enough that he had the "price" memorized.
I remember reading an article about Koch Industries that said they just budget in fines for violating environmental regulations and lawsuit settlements for damage and accidents caused by broken pipelines -- itâs cheaper than installing cleaner, safer equipment.
Fines that arenât adjusted to the means of the violator are worse than useless.
... unless you use the day fine system (most commonly found in Scandinavia and North Europe), where instead of fines being a set amount, they are a set number of days' worth of income. If the fine for parking where you're not supposed to is one day's pay, then someone who makes $150/day will have a $150 fine, and a rich person who makes $50,000/day (including investment income) will pay $50,000.
Every few years, Sweden gets in the news for a new record high speeding ticket. At least once the fine has been over $1M in USD. And every time it's a wealthy foreigner who cries about how absurd and unfair the ticket is ... and then carefully follows the speed laws for the rest of his time in Sweden.
this is still a thing in the uk where for example it's way cheaper for farmers to dump pig shit in rivers and pay the (non-escalating) fines than to pay to have the shit properly disposed of (environmentalists have been fighting this nonsense for at least 30 years)

lore bits:
the veil is not a modesty thing in their culture (as depicted on fig. 1 the "modesty" "standards" are vastly different), it is almost exclusively used by the priestesses by whom it is used as insulation material to get real high off the smoke of sacred herbs (like one would put a towel over their head when leaning over a bowl of boiling water to clear out the sinuses. but with psychotropics instead) and through which it is said a priestess does her scrying and can see the future or the dead by holding the veil up against smoke, against the sky, against a landscape, etc.
the main animal of spiritual, cultual, cultural, and social/societal importance is the horse. spiritually and cultually, it is seen as a psychopomp: an animal who carries on its back the soul of the dead from this world to the other. it is seen as a comrade, able to carry the wounded out of battle like fellow soldiers can, and as a mother archetype, carrying its rider like a mother carries her child. it is as such a symbol of solidarity but also of strength, of vitality, and from observing the behavior of mares, of fierce protection yet of not tolerating bullshit. this makes, for them, the centaur both a revered neighbor (lol "neigh") (also centaurs exists in this. not the point) and an ideal: animal instinct and human reason, animal strength and power with human conscience/consciousness using and channeling that strength and power. as most members of this society ride horses, the "control of" (partnership with, rather) of an animal that big and powerful is like microdosing on controlling forces beyond one's grasp (the divine). socially and societally, the horse is at the center of their economic surviving system as it aids in travel, in agriculture, in warfare, in games (that serve cohesion of the community), in construction, in entertainment and spiritual life (string instruments using horse hair), etc.
the second main animal of their spiritual life, with lesser social/societal importance, is the snake. it is a chthonian animal associated with death (crawls on and burrows in the ground, realm of the death), but also with rebirth (molting), both very important to the community as many who were not born in it (like the main character of the story) (not pictured there) (oh yeah i haven't mentioned it. those are parts of the supporting cast. WINK) but rather came there, came after a death (social, spiritual, mental and, for some but very few, literal/physical).
the third animal of their spiritual life is the lizard, associated with rebirth through molting also, but more important due to its behavior of autotomy: self-amputation and discarding of the tail when caught by a predator in order to escape, and regrowing it later.
Do you have any tips on how to quit a phone addiction or cure brain rot?
When I want to go ghost on social media I:
Delete all the apps
Keep a notebook next to me when Iâm working or reading: every time I get the urge to check socials or scroll, I write down what was the inciting thought or feeling I had right before I wanted to scroll. Surprisingly Iâve found that any form of psychological discomfort, no matter how small, makes me crave distraction. And that means I use scrolling as a form of emotional regulation.
Set targets to achieve (eg 2 days no scrolling)
I donât have all the answers as I obviously still fall into periods of struggle but Iâve found you just have to will yourself out of cycle where you use the phone to regulate. It causes temporary discomfort but onceâs you get out of the unconsciousness of the habit. Your brain will come up with other ways to regulate

whenever either men criticize a woman's appearance or a woman is self deprecating about her own appearance i'm torn between insisting she's absolutely gorgeous or explaining that it doesn't actually matter at all. because both. are. true.

History often remembers the men who foughtâbut forgets the women who resisted. From smuggling weapons in baby carriages to leading armed uprisings, women were a vital force in the fight against tyranny. Their courage was strategic, spiritual, and fierce. Itâs time we told their stories.
Share this to honor the women history tried to forget.
I strongly dislike the whole âwe are the daughters of the witches they couldnât burnâ thing that performative feminists seem to push because right now in the world we live in women are being accused of witchcraft and punished for it.
In Ghana in 2020, 90 year old Akua Dente was lynched after being accused of witchcraft. Hundreds of women, the majority of them elderly and all of them vulnerable, have been exiled to âwitch campsâ with unreliable healthcare, sanitation, and food. They are sexually abused in some cases, exploited, forced to work without pay for priests and community leaders. Theyâre forcibly sent to these camps after being scapegoated for unrelated problems and targeted for their gender and age and vulnerability.
Thereâs a law (originally delayed after Ghanas president refused to sign it into law in 2023) thatâs being reevaluated soon. If you see this post please sign the petition that would enact this law and help these women! Witch trails arenât just a period in Western history, theyâre being used as method to oppress females to this day and I donât think we should turn a blind eye to it.
Act now to urge the President Nana Akufo-Addo to urgently sign the 2023 Anti-Witchcraft Bill into law to protect these vulnerable individual
The House of Representatives is trying to introduce a federal ban on abortion.
On January 24th of this year, Missouri Representative Eric Burlison introduced a bill to the House Judiciary Committee called the âLife at Conception Actâ/H. R. 722. Stated directly from Congress.gov, this bill would, âdeclare[] that the right to life guaranteed by the Constitution is vested in each human being at all stages of life, including the moment of fertilization, cloning, or other moment at which an individual comes into being. Nothing in this bill shall be construed to authorize the prosecution of any woman for the death of her unborn child.â
Although the bill directly states that it will not authorize the prosecution of woman for the death of the fetus, state laws can authorize the prosecution of these women. If this bill is passed, we will essentially end up with any sort of abortion being âmurderââeven if medically necessary. This bill seeks to control women and place bans on our bodily autonomy. This bill wants girls who have been raped and abused to have the result of the horrors theyâve been through.
In order to help prevent this bill from passing in the house, we must kill it where it stands. Call your representatives, especially the ones that sponsored the bill. Ask the representatives that sponsored the bill why they want to control womenâs bodies. Ask them why they want girlâs to carry their rapistsâ children to term.
Although it is public information, here is a list of the representatives by state that sponsored the bill.

Call them and ask why they want to hurt women.
Text for H.R.722 - 119th Congress (2025-2026): Life at Conception Act
this is a bit TMI but i get really sweaty armpits in the summer when i donât shave and i get stinky ⌠do you think itâs morally reprehensible for someone to shave their armpits in the summer ?
It's a myth that ''hair increases sweat '', same as ''if you shave your hair instead of waxing it, it's going to be thicker'', or as the ''i shave for sensory issues'' etc. It was created by the patriarchy to ensure we will still do it.
When you sweat a lot and feel irritation in your armpits. The problem becomes even bigger when you start feeling body odor and see your clot
But I understand that it can be uncomfortable, the more likely reason you sweat more in the summer is because of the heat of summer.
You can say that you're uncomfortable with your sweat and with your body hair, I think everyone is going to understand that. What is more ''morally reprehensible'' to me is to spread this misinformation, myth about our body functions than you trying to adjust to your discomfort.
Yeah it's not great, we encourage girls and women to not torture themselves or let them being tortured by their closes ones. But we also understand that we all struggle with our socialisation and that sometimes we have some ''relapse''. I don't think it's good, but I don't think it's morally reprehensible either.

Youre right. Itâs just true. It is also the reason we have such insane sexual dimorphism. Rapist males seek out weak defenseless females. There is NO practical reason that average women should be naturally half as strong as the average man. It is only beneficial to men. Sexual aggression in males appears specifically as a reaction to âââlow valueâââ males understanding they would not get a chance to breed otherwise. When sexual selection is taken from females (and there are studies to back this up), it is costly to the species as a whole.
all of this is completely accurate. we are supposed to be a female sexual selection species; as the human race we would have been fucking galaxy-brained 400 years ago if this had been the case and ugly rapist moids hadnât skewed the population.
Yes, the reason why there's so many ugly men is literally bc men have controlled natural selection for so long. That's why there's those studies that report most male-attracted women think 90% of men are physically unattractive. Now men are upset about this, but it's bc they controlled mating for so long. Now they're all ugly and unsexy and it's their own fault.
