“Some Taylor series, like the Taylor series for e^x and sin(x), converge to the function very rapidly. You might call them Taylor Swift series.”

The AO3 Tag of the Day is:
Probably the nerdiest thing I’ve done in some time - a math limerick of my own!
The way it should be read is:
The integral of inverse two z Taken over a circle, size e Divided by i Times square root of pi Gives you gamma of one-sixth times three
I’ve seen math limericks that used integrals before, but I haven’t seen one that would use complex analysis, so here it is
I dig it 👉🏼😎👉🏼

Honestly, the fact that we can’t agree on the order is pretty on brand.
Just as the phrase “what the entire fuck” implies the existence of fractional fucks, the phrase “what the absolute fuck” implies the existence of both positive and negative fucks (or else there would be no need for an absolute value operation). Taken together with the phrase “what the actual fuck” (which implies the existence of imaginary fucks), we may thus conclude that fuckery is isomorphic with the complex field.
Technically, we can only conclude that “a fuck” is an element of some norm space over a field containing fractional values; the space being isomorphic to ℂ is a substantially stronger claim.
If anyone ever said “what the rational fuck” we would have a stronger basis for ℂ, as that would imply some irrational fucks. We could then generously assume completeness and thus a Banach space that is at least a subset of ℂ. However, no mention has also been made of whether this is a bounded space (”what the finite fuck?” could be taken as implication of infinite fucks on at least some axis), so there are many unexplored areas of research in fuck-topology.
I think we’ve been overlooking the fact that we don’t even know that fuckery has ring structure – without needing to multiply fucks (though fucks are often thought to lead to multiplying), fuck-space doesn’t need to be over a field.
It could just be a module over some ring containing the integers but not contained by the reals (giving us our negative and “non-actual” fucks), where “a fuck” is a multiple of some generator of the module (giving fractional fucks).
“Entire” fuck may also hint at Lang’s usage, referring to an integral domain as the base ring, but this seems superfluous.
It has been brought to my attention that we’ve been ignoring ignoring “what the literal fuck”. This suggests that fucks exist not only within a module structure as you suggest, but also could be represented as words in some logical formal language (with the “literal” fucks being the atomic fucks and their negations).
This, of course, raises the question of what relationship if any connects the vector space/module operations with any rules which might describe the formal rules of “fuck logic”.

I genuinely do not understand this unrelenting insistence that we compare every horrendous thing the United States does to the Holocaust, when there are much better comparisons to be made to…well, the United fucking States.
The United States has a long, sordid history of separating families: The Transatlantic Slave Trade and the families impacted by slavery for generations after being stolen from their homes and sold to the highest bidder, for one. The Bureau of Indian Affairs boarding schools, where Native children were ripped from their families in order to have their language, culture, and beliefs stamped out of them through forced assimilation and conversion to Christianity, for another.
The United States has an awful history of putting people in detention centres: Japanese and Native Alaskan internment camps during WWII, Fort Cass, Fort Snell, and other Native American internment camps that Indigenous Peoples were forced into throughout the 19th and 20th centuries, not even to mention Guantanamo Bay, and the camps so-called dissidents in the places like the Philippines, Vietnam, and other nations Americans had occupied were put into.
The United States has always been horrible to its immigrants, specifically non-white and/or non-Christian refugees. My own grandfather, an immigrant form India, couldn’t become a citizen of the United States despite being a college lecturer and the spouse of a US citizen due to Asian Exclusion, and had to continuously enrol in university courses he never actually took despite the fact that he was teaching them, just to stay in the country on a student visa. The one truly valid comparison to the Holocaust era you could make would be to the United States turning away Jewish refugees from Nazi-occupied Europe aboard the St Louis and sending them back to their deaths because that same law used to keep my grandfather from becoming a citizen had been put in place specifically to keep more Jews and Asians from coming into the country.
Like, the United States is not “becoming Nazi Germany” all of a sudden. This is not some aberrant “UnAmerican” behaviour. This is the United States being the United States, doing what the U.S. has always done from the moment of its inception.
Also, as one of my FB friends said on this topic recently: “Nazi Germany was not famous for cruelty toward asylum seekers, it was famous for making millions of asylum seekers and then murdering millions including many from my family.”
There is no good reason to constantly trot out bad Holocaust comparisons when we know damn well this is the same inhumane bullshit America was fucking built on. Hitler, Nazis, and The Holocaust are not just shorthand for “the government being really bad.” It was a specific atrocity that devastated the Jewish and Romani communities of this world, and you don’t need to constantly devalue it and re-traumatise Jews and Roma over and over again when you can just as easily condemn the heinous way asylum seekers are the US border are being treated by saying the United States is still in the business of systematic oppression and has not learnt anything from its own appalling history.
This one is for the folks who are putting up photos of children in the shoah on my Facebook feed every damn day

hey guys, stuart semple just posted this
and all the proceeds from the shirts are being donated to the callen-lorde health center to promote health education and wellness in the community.
pass this around, if you could? it seems like a really bold statement with really good intentions
You can get one here!
That is so fucking metal and I want one.
@teratomarty
I want that ink!
Stuart Semple is so amazing.
This does look like an awesome project. The designers appear to be art/clothing companies (Phluid, Semple, Mother) but they say all proceeds go to Callen-Lorde, which is an LGBT nonprofit public health organization. From their website:
“ Callen-Lorde is the global leader in LGBTQ healthcare. Since the days of Stonewall, we have been transforming lives in LGBTQ communities through excellent comprehensive care, provided free of judgment and regardless of ability to pay. In addition, we are continuously pioneering research, advocacy and education to drive positive change around the world, because we believe healthcare is a human right. “
It looks like a good organization to support beyond just the t-shirts, as well - though the shirts are, indeed, fucking metal.
(There is a tiny, super petty part of me that wonders about paying overhead to obtain gay blood-stained clothes when I get those for free practically every month...but since my uterus has yet to become literate I think I’ll go with the shirt.)
Broke my heart yesterday when I saw this car with a disabled badge going back and forth trying desperately to found a parking spot near their apartment, but every spot was taken, including disabled spots by cars that didn’t have any sticker People are so not aware of their privileges. They can walk. They can easily walk a bit, they could just park their car a bit further, there were parking spots there, but no, it’s so tiiiiring to carry your grocery bag for a few steps more than if you just parked in the spot conceived for disabled people’s cars.
I’m disabled. I’m autistic. And, honestly, I’m often afraid to park in some parking spots because I’m not so good with space awareness and a big parking spot could be very helpful for me. But I don’t because I’m still able to park in a smaller parking spot and I definitely don’t need the big space. With a bit of time and focus, I can park in smaller parking spots. I definitely can.
Able-bodied people are so entitled that stealing accommodations seems fair to them. “Well, we don’t see many disabled people around here, so might as well occupy this space”. Until someone really needs the disabled bathroom stall, until someone has to use the disabled parking spot because they don’t have a choice in it.
Be aware of your privileges. And be aware of people who don’t have them. Respect their needs.
I’m disabled by the medical and legal definition, but because my impairments come from an autoimmune disease, they come and go in “flares”. So I don’t use the bathroom stalls or my parking privileges unless I need to fit my crutches or walker and/or my stiffness and pain is so severe that I might fall and injure myself. If it’s a “good day”, I save those spaces for people who require them 24/7.

@rabidweezul
SERVICE DOG PSA
So today I tripped. Fell flat on my face, it was awful but ultimately harmless. My service dog, however, is trained to go get an adult if I have a seizure, and he assumed this was a seizure (were training him to do more to care for me, but we didn’t learn I had epilepsy until a year after we got him)
I went after him after I had dusten off my jeans and my ego, and I found him trying to get the attention of a very annoyed woman. She was swatting him away and telling him to go away. So I feel like I need to make this heads up
If a service dog without a person approaches you, it means the person is down and in need of help
Don’t get scared, don’t get annoyed, follow the dog! If it had been an emergency situation, I could have vomited and choked, I could have hit my head, I could have had so many things happen to me. We’re going to update his training so if the first person doesn’t cooperate, he moves on, but seriously guys. If what’s-his-face could understand that lassie wanted him to go to the well, you can figure out that a dog in a vest proclaiming it a service dog wants you to follow him
