one of the funnier incidents of me assuming someone knew a meme irl was when a new coworker was talking about some woman who got arrested for tax fraud and I went "God forbid women do anything" and he got scared and thought I was accusing him of being sexist, so he started apologizing and saying how tax fraud isn't even bad, actually.

This person being over 40yo has shaken me to my core

Not for nothing you don’t protect a community of vulnerable, marginalized people, especially women, by sheltering, harboring, and laundering predators. If you can’t tell a rapist to leave your community you are telling the rapist what they did is okay, and their victims that they were wrong to speak out, wrong to even see what happened as abuse. You have essentially recreated the societal conditions that created their marginalization.
