dana confirms that frankie is canonically cis, she just has a lot of masc nicknames
people start saying dana is transphobic for this
additional context that people were mad at dana for not making willow "look more blasian" when she had a black dad and a korean dad, dana eventually had to confirm the black dad was a stepdad and willow was never intended to be blasian, so it makes sense that she would want to confirm things quickly so people don't get the wrong idea for a long time. people ignore this and decide her rush to confirm frankie is cis (when she was DIRECTLY ASKED, if i may remind you) means that she hates trans women
people also decide that dana is transphobic because a trans woman voiced the asshole boss (a cis man in the show afawk). trans woman actress literally has to come out and say she enjoys playing characters like him and likes being able to voice both male and female characters
dana puts out an apology saying that she didn't mean trans headcanons for frankie were bad, only that she was not written with the intention of being trans. she has previously stated this is her stance on queer headcanons so this is not a surprise from her
dana blocked people who were throwing parasocial fits over her confirming frankie as cis. everyone decides this means that she IS indeed transphobic and her apology means nothing

cleared my thoughts after a day and thought a bit more on the whole thing. i think this is gonna be my last public thoughts on this whole thing unless of course more stupid drama happens, but for now this is just my final take (sorry, screenshotted from discord bc im tired)

nobody ever cares this much when its a big company with little representation in their media, but when its an indie project AND the creator is actively engaging with fans online people feel entitled for the creator to follow what THEY want instead of recognizing that this is another persons passion project and not their own
that online phenomenon of people inserting themselves into media they had no part in creating and getting mad when it doesnt follow their own ideas on how it should be
its an unfortunate drawback you get from having a creator actively interact with their fandom and the headcanons from it where theres always a few people who feel that their own headcanons arent just fanon, and when the creator goes against that idea they lash out like its a personal attack
when again thats another person and their work is their own! its the same reason why you dont get mad at other peoples headcanons for media, thats just how they see it”
but yeah. dana is her own person and she wrote kog the way she wanted to, and nobody should think its okay to attack her simply just for that. attacking an indie creator simply for answering a question regarding one of her own characters isnt giving us any more transfem representation in media, we need to focus on calling for more rep from large companies instead. where was this level of hate when disney blocked an entire transfem storyline from one of their most recent shows? why are we going after dana simply for answering that frankie is cis instead of focusing on the media monopolies that continue to erase the stories of transgender people and characters and further profit off of us when they want to? none of this drama actually helps anything or anyone, its just stupid.
