I use to read and watch stories about people being excellent and doing incredible things. People overcoming incredible difficulties. Stories about overpowered characters being overpowered and chosen ones finding their destinies that was pure wish fulfilment.

And then Lucy Heartfilia happened. Fairy tail gave me a world where everyone had the potential to do magic and it gave me a character that wasn't all that great. A character that wasn't all that powerful and yet was at the heart of the story. Fairy Tail made me love that character and made me question do you have to be the best? Do you have to be special? If you aren't all that great does that make you less worthy of love and respect? Do you need to be the best to be happy in life?

Fairy tail gave me this character and showered her in unconditional love. Fairy tail let her be surrounded by people who accepted her just as she was and loved her without expecting anything in return.

Fairy tail made me feel good about myself. Lucy made me feel good about myself. It assured me that you don't need to be extraordinary you just have to be you.
